Kismet is a brand that people get excited for and Iāve had takeout bagels from other locations in the past. A good place to eat, no doubt; however, without making this complicated and breaking down every minute aspect of our order, itās just too goddamn expensive for something that is the peak of mediocrity. There isnāt much else to say. We live 7 min from this location. Was excited for something great. It wasnāt. Keep reading if you want, but the above sums it up.
Specifically, I ordered a porkroll, egg, and cheese on a sesame, and my wife a spicy bacon sandwich of some sort on an everything. Both were fine. Her bagel was chewier and more enjoyable overall, well made. Mine was bready, lacked texture, and had the consistency of a Saladworks multigrain roll. The porkroll was meagerly applied, and the innards of the sandwich were equivalent to any small town bagel shop. I was excited for a bagel that was different or special or interesting or just BETTER than your typical south Jersey shop. It wasnāt. At all. And at $35 for two bagel sandwiches and a latte, I wonāt be going back. Iāve had plenty of NYC bagels. This doesnāt cut it. Go somewhere else and save $20 for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreKismet Bagels has landed in Collingswood! I got to hit up their soft opening at the new brick-and-mortar spot, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
Iāve only ever had their bagels and cream cheeses from the Collingswood Farmers Market, so I was so hyped to try a full-on breakfast sandwich today. I went for āThe Spicyā ā scrambled eggs, pickled jalapeƱos, bacon, and a schmear of their š„ spicy everything sauce (which I bought a jar of).
I also snagged a jar of their zhug sauce to spice up my life even more. Canāt not grab some of their bagels, baked fresh on site daily. Theyāre unreal.
Stay tuned because Iāll be working my way through their menu. Keep an eye out for their grand opening date announcement and make your way to the newest best bagel spot in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to always get the Kismet bagels at the farmer's market for my brother because they're so good and he loves them so much. I was so happy when they opened a stand alone shop in Collingswood (but also SO grateful that it was not another Italian restaurant- God love my people and their food, but the market saturation is very real on Haddon Ave)
I get The Fish on a toasted Everything and with cucumbers instead of pickles because the salt is too much for my amlodipine to contend with. It's a perfect balance with the cukes. The service is always excellent at Kismet and while I've never utilized the dine in option, it has a When Harry Met Sally vibe to it. I think it's a really sweet, unassuming brunch spot. Amazing place for a date, just maybe not...
