Charming establishment if not a bit hectic and confusing.
We ordered three breakfast entrees to try a variety of things. There was a little bit of a mishap when it was time to deliver the food however, they asked me if I had ordered eggs benedict, which I did so I said yes. They dropped off the plate and scurried away and then I was waiting for the other plates and they didn't bring them so I told my husband to go find out what was going on and apparently they gave me someone else's eggs benedict. Most of the people were so kind and nice regarding this mistake but I did feel like one guy was a bit accusatory as if I wanted to try to steal an extra meal or something which is hilarious because we already ordered 3 dishes for 2 people we literally could not eat 3 let alone 4 dishes for 2 people. Just saying I am the customer so I'm not trying to keep all the orders staight like that's not my job I was just sitting there and I was asked if I ordered an eggs benedict and I did. So I don't know what I did wrong but I kind of felt like that guy I thought I did something wrong, so that part did make me feel awkward and then I felt like apologizing to everyone for the rest of my time there for something that wasn't my fault because I was just a customer.
But annnnyway, onto the food itself I thought the vanilla french toast was delicious if not a little underdone. I'm definitely using that cereal coating trick for my next French toast thank you for the idea.
The breakfast potatoes were mouth-wateringly delicious and craveable. The hash browns were only okay. For our three dishes we got two hash browns and one breakfast potatoes and I definitely would have wanted to switch that if possible haha.
The eggs benedict were a little bit sour /tart. I'm not sure if perhaps they just went a little overboard with some lemon in the Hollandaise but if that is how it always is I did not like it. Which is unfortunate because eggs benedict is probably my favorite breakfast.
My husband said the huevos were not what he was expecting. I usually don't speak on food I didn't try but I could at least relay his thoughts on his plate.
I got a salted caramel latte and I thought it was delicious. However they also delivered the wrong drink to me at first. Things were just a little bit overwhelming when I visited. I know they are looking for some more employees because they have a sign saying that they can't be open on Mondays anymore because they need more help. So if you are reading this and looking for a job maybe you should check it out.
My favorite thing about Miyo Cafe was the personalities of the employees. The lady seems like the owner and she is such a delight. So welcoming and caring of everyone in the establishment. You can tell that many of the people frequent the cafe and she knows everybody. And even though it was our first time visiting she still took the time to check on us multiple times while we were waiting in line. As I have said in other reviews I love Mom and Pop shops because you can tell that they really care. The community atmosphere is so lovely. It almost makes me wish I didn't crave new things and new experiences so much because I would love to become a regular there like so many people seem to be.
I just hope the sour hollandaise was a fluke and next time I try it it's a bit better.
Recommended to anyone who loves a welcoming atmosphere in a lovely...
Read moreFirst time here and it felt like we walked into a families home for brunch; as we were welcomed with a warm smile and friendly hello.
The menu has a wide variety of offerings sure to satiate your appetite. We tried their smothered chorizo burrito, their bacon avocado mushroom skillet and their chicken caesar salad. All were served in very generous portions and did not disappointed in flavor.
While we were eating we noticed the owner Gary working the room and checking on EACH AND EVERY customer. He moved chairs around to accommodate groups, bussed tables, lifted plates.....and demonstrated a level of service that I hadn't seen in a long time. After talking with our daughter for just a second he recognized that she may be a bit hungry after softball practice, and gave her some animal crackers to hold her over until her food arrived. They knew customers by name, showed kindness to everyone and were sincere when they said thank you for coming in.
Gary and his staff emulate what a good business does.....provide a quality product and treat each and every customer as their most valuable client.
As you can imagine with customer service like this it gets very busy on the weekends. High recommend for everyone! (Even your 4 legged family are...
Read moreWe searched out a place for breakfast on a warm and sunny early March Sunday and found MIYO in west Castle Rock just south of the Castle Pines Golf Club. On this day Donna, the owner, greeted us from behind the counter and talked us through some of the menu options. She explained MIYO means Make It Your Own, so I decided to test that out and order a bean and chorizo breakfast burrito and asked for it to be prepared sans tortilla. Donna gladly accommodated and asked if I wanted it smothered with mild, hot, or vegetarian green chili. I chose the hot and tried another test and asked where she gets her chorizo. I was surprised to learn that she gets it from a family just down the road in Pueblo with whom she and her family have done business since the bootlegging days of Prohibition. Mrs ordered the Vanilla French Toast that comes crusted with sweetened corn flake cereal. Breakfast is one of those meals that's so simple it's often hard to get it right. Today Donna and her people got it right and we both enjoyed our breakfasts and the busy but not crowded location. Do yourself a favor, find your way off the highway, choose locally-owned MIYO, and make it your own. You'll be...
