This was a tough one because I was really looking forward to a seafood Benedict.
We drove up from the north part of the springs on Sunday because the reviews and the place looked pretty fantastic.
In a nutshell, my wife got the king crab Benedict, and I got the crab cake Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was fantastic. Although, all our eggs were basically hard boiled. I love eggs Benedict and everybody knows the eggs need to be a runny center. When you drop 30 bucks a plate, you expect the eggs to be right. I’m sure I could’ve said something, but when your food comes out altogether and ready, the last thing you wanna do is return your plate because the eggs are wrong. I was ready to eat.
I feel that’s one aspect of an eggs Benedict You just have to get right.
A couple other small things, When we ordered, we let the server know my wife was gluten-free. A few minutes after the food arrived, the server came back and said that the potatoes are not gluten-free. She offered to swap out with seasonal fruit, which was just fine. When we got our bill, we were charged four dollars for the potatoes that my wife couldn’t eat. They took it off, but just make sure and look at your bill.
I was able to eat the potatoes and I’ll have to say they were soft. When I say soft, it’s like they had been sitting in a warming tray on a buffet, and I scooped it out and put it on my plate. I love breakfast potatoes and I only ate a few bites.
Due to my wife having the gluten allergy, I’ve sampled many many types of gluten-free breads, and English muffins. What they served my wife’s eggs Benedict on was not a gluten-free English muffin. It tasted more like gluten-free pancakes. It was even a touch sweet.
Overall, the service was good and the atmosphere really nice but when you’re paying $30 for eggs, Benedict and all the things happened above, it’s challenging to...
Read moreGreat spot in a little strip mall Castle Pines, CO. I took my wife here for her birthday. It was a Sunday evening. I had reservations (strongly recommended). We were seated quickly by a very nice hostess. Eventually, the gentleman working the bar came up and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We both asked for water to start. Once he got back, I ordered a bourbon, while my wife had a pinot noir. The waiter/bartender eventually came back and took our order. We started with the Cordon Bleu Oysters. Well prepared and recommended. Eventually, our waiter/bartender came back to take our order. My wife ordered the lobster tail, and I ordered the filet rare. Food came out, and my wife commented on the fantastic presentation and prepared food. I agreed with the presentation, I would have preferred the filet be a little more well, but it was a good cut and tasted fantastic! Our waiter came back surprisingly quickly to ask how everything was, and we let him know fantastic. We finished dinner and waited quite some time for a return visit (at this point, the restaurant was fairly empty). We were asked about dessert and told that the pastry chef prepares each day a limited number of servings, and we should call ahead next time to reserve what we want (note taken and understood). We were provided the bill, and then waited, waited, and waited for the waiter/bartender to return for payment. Then we waited and waited and waited for him to return again. I'm guessing the Sunday evening regulars at the bar were more entertaining and important than we. Just wondering why the other two waiters (on whom appeared to have only one large table, and the other who had multiple couples didn't wait on us?). Overall. Food - highly...
Read moreI went there during happy hour and all the food was delicious! We ordered 4 items from the small plates section and a wedge salad. The wedge salad used butter lettuce instead of iceberg. We got the house oysters and specialty oysters and both were really good. The combo grits had a nice smoky flavor to it. So in the order I liked most to least: Brussels and Shishitos, Sea Scallop BLT, combo Grits, Blackened Ahi Tataki. Nov 2022 update: I haven't been back since Sept, they have a new menu! Lots to try! I had there special but unfortunately the fish I had hurt my throat. More than half the skate fish tasted like ammonia. It's the type of fish that needs to be cleaned within hours of catching and then when prepped it needs to be treated specially for it. May 2024 update: The last time I have been here was my last update where I hurt my throat. It's taken about 2 years for it not to be a problem in my daily work life which means I have not eaten out as much to help my throat heal. I just start going back to Trestles and the food is still amazing. I've gone to brunch twice and happy hour after work. Brunch was amazing, I had the Maryland Benedict once and the other time was during brunch happy hour and I had the banana bread French toast. They had a lot of great dishes for their normal happy hour. Some which is not part of the regular menu. We tried a couple of the sliders and it was really good. Taste and texture is well balanced in majority of the dishes I...
