I lived next door from Sirens from 2002 until 2008. I was 86’d for several of the last years by Big Bob. I thought he was joking but he never let me back in. Yeah I called him names. It was the North Shore Bar & Grill back then. So I moved in 08 up to Lakewood. FF to 2021. I live in Durango now. Came back to visit my old friend next door. It’s now Sirens B&G. Went in one night to have a beer and check the menu. I looked around and BOB WAS GONE!!! I half expected him to roll out of the kitchen and shake his head and point to the exit. Nope. I could finally relax again. Service seems like a local is prioritized. Regulars I mean. I had a beer and perused the menu. They have had really good cooks whenever I was allowed in. Saw the new owner(s)? bringing in a really nice smoker as I passed from the gas station one time. Wow BBQ?!! Smoked meats! I would try some “Q” but I haven’t smelled anything for the 2 weeks I have been here. Pork shoulder is a deal now too. I’m hoping herd immunity is achieved soon and Sirens starts firing up the smoker and laying out a spread on the small patio out back. I didn’t order that night because I was catching a buzz and just didn’t. All that and No Bob, I might go back. Give them a try if you’re in the neighborhood. Update After a few times in it’s quite clear the have their own little clique here and service is horrible if you aren’t in it. Downright rude bartenders except one nice guy. Ordered wings to go and they got one order wrong. Sweet chile when I wanted Buffalo and completely forgot the other order. Not great wings. Giving one star because how can you screw up two orders of wings?...
Read moreSo I am giving this place 5 stars based on the breakfast burrito. My boyfriend and I were staying at a hotel nearby and I was craving a breakfast burrito. I ordered the sausage breakfast burrito and asked that the potatoes be made crispy and the eggs over easy, I also ordered country gravy on the side as I traditionally like 1/2 green chili and 1/2 gravy if available. It was phenomenal! Fresh tasting, the green chili has just a little spice to it, enough to make your lips a little tingly. The eggs were still runny after the 10 minutes drive back to our hotel. Literally one of the best burritos I have had in a while! I will definitely be getting that again! My boyfriend got the pepperoni pizza. It was ok…definitely something you would order in a bar if you need some food in your stomach. It’s a thin crust, and was good, but don’t expect like Old Chicago type pizzas. I also ordered the fried Oreos (because when do you see fried oreos outside a county fair??) and they were crispy and heavenly. Overall the food hit the spot for us and like I said…definitely coming back for another burrito. I didn’t go into the bar, but the boyfriend said it was a nice vibe and he sat and talked to some older guys about CU winning their game that morning, and he appreciated finding some cool people/fans to talk to.
Updated to say that I have now been inside as well and enjoyed the food fresh from the kitchen. It was still just as wonderful. The fries are the most interesting fluffy but crunchy things ever. I am planning on...
Read moreI worked here for four months, and everyone loved me, including the owner. One night recently, he decided to drink at his own establishment for over 15 hours, and then proceeded to attack several of my customers and try to throw them out because they unknowingly came through an unlocked, unmarked door, which he has deemed off limits. After they apologized profusely and went out front to wait for an Uber, he ran out and attacked them again, punching one of them in the face, and ripping the other's jacket almost completely in half as he tore it off of him. It took four large regular bar customers to pull him off and subdue him long enough for his poor customers to escape. Afterward he was witnessed giving several bottles of liquor away to other customers as an apology, and then he drove home! A week later, he "took me off the schedule" citing missing liquor as the cause, and then illegally took the missing inventory out of my paycheck. Absolutely deplorable behavior. I'm sorry I stopped the customers in question (as well as those who witnessed it) from calling the cops that night. I'm sorry I put so much effort into that place, only to be treated this way. Too bad because the bar has great customers, and if any of them are reading this, I appreciate you...he doesn't deserve...
