Really disappointing experience today. This is not a complaint about the food or coffee, but at the immaturity of one of the staff members. Ordered two breakfast wraps and a coffee to go. Was told it would be a 15-20 minute wait. After over 20 minutes of waiting, I asked a barista if she could check in on my order, and she rudely responded by saying that the wait was close to a half hour for orders. I informed her that was not what I had been told, and that if that was the case they should be giving a more accurate wait time. She went to check on the order and I was told that the kitchen had made an error on one of the wraps and was remaking the order. I waited another 10 minutes before finally going up to the register and checking in again. Normally, I wouldn’t have an issue with waiting, and I could see that they were extremely busy. But I had a shift at my job that I was now potentially running late for, and the barista felt the need to make snide comments while I was still waiting for my food. It’s not my fault that 1) the lady at the register did not give an accurate wait time and 2) the kitchen made a mistake. I’ve worked in the restaurant business for years. I understand that errors happen and that sometimes there are delays, but I think it could have been handled more graciously. You shouldn’t be working in the restaurant industry if you’re going to be rude to customers. The lady at the register was apologetic and this is not directed towards her at all. Overall though, not a very...
Read moreUnbelievably good coffee, and not just by Montana standards. Nice atmosphere and their breakfast items look yummy. If you’re visiting from New York, Seattle or anywhere else that has good coffee, Montana Coffee Traders is the only place in the valley where you're going to get a good espresso.
If you’ve ever had a cortado anywhere else though, you will be disappointed with this one. A cortado should be a double shot of espresso with equal parts steamed milk. What I got was basically just a single espresso macchiato with the foam stirred in. Definitely not worth the $$ even though it was one of the most delicious shots of espresso I’ve had in a while.
If you order from this location, make sure you got what you paid for before you leave. Good practice when ordering anywhere really. My partner just paid $4+ for a cup of ice an some coffee because they forgot to out the 3x shots of espresso in her drink. This mistake combined with my measly cortado makes me much less apt to visit this location in the future. I will however continue to buy bulk beans and tell anyone who will listen about how delicious Montana...
Read moreThe breakfast burrito absolutely slaps. And the (I'm assuming homemade) salsa is to DIE for!
It was so good that I went back for it again. And that encouraged me to go yet gain for a sit down breakfast, because all the plates of food going out while I waited for my burrito looked delicious!
I'll be honest -- for me, the sit down breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. I had the Big Sky, but it was oddly layered, so it didn't mix well when eating. It was way too potato heavy, and in my opinion, the cheese should've been scrambled in rather than just on top. Not enough egg for the quantity of the rest of the food, but honestly, just way too much food in general. And, this sit down breakfast was my first taste of their coffee, which oddly wasn't great. I tried two different roasts, and both were underwhelming.
But service has been great every single time, and the atmosphere is really a 5/5. I guess it just depends how you like your breakfasts and coffee, which is why I'm still giving 4 stars overall (and 5 for service/atmosphere). And I'd give a 6/5 stars for the burrito + salsa...
