!!!THE BEST OF COLUMBIA MO !!!! !!!!10/10!!!!!
No matter how long it's been since I've stepped through these doors, it always feels like home. It is truly a unique and perfect dining experience time and time again. From the counter to the wait staff and even the comfortability of the seats/tables. The food is always perfection as well. This trip I ordered a gyro and a salad bar trip. Most people wouldn't expect to be wowed with such a simple order (myself included), but they never cease to amaze me here. The onions are somehow perfection themselves, which in my experience is an impossibility to predict during the purchasing process. The jalapeños I had added were just the right amount of flavor. Again, an impossible task when I'm shopping for myself, but it's just the normal way of business here at Angelo's. The gyro itself is the absolute perfect portion, and I'm not a small guy. It filled me up without weighing me down. The salad bar options are simple and straightforward, which suits my tastes perfectly. There are few things more frustrating than too many choices when making a salad and finding that perfect balance between healthy options and being inundated with too many choices is an art form other restaurants could take a lesson from. If all that wasn't enough, the very best part is how quick they get the food out to you. The temperature upon arrival to the table couldn't have been better. Legitimately just a touch hotter than you want to bite into but a solid reassurance that it's freshly cooked while somehow being so mouth-wateringly presented that it makes a guy question if a little bit of heat on the ole tongue would be a bad thing. By the time you get the gyro sauce onto the meat, it's the absolute perfect consumption temperature. In summation, if you're not eating here when you are in Columbia, you're missing out. 100% will return next time...
Read moreThis is the type of place that seems like it may be a hidden gem, until you walk in. Then it feels exactly like the restaurants that Gordon Ramsey tries to save on one of his TV shows. I understand being short staffed but that can't excise how customers are treated, the quality if food served and the time it takes to serve the food. All of which were sub par. The food is mediocre at best. The pizza was blank, the gyro tasted like the meat was tainted and the open faced roast beef sandwich was nothing more than pre packaged beef, instant mashed potatoes and canned brown gravy that was so old it it was clotted on my plate. I will say the green beans though were quite good. The time it took to serve my family of 5 was close to an hour in a fairly empty restaurant. I have a feeling they know their food and service is not acceptable because as I was going tupelo to pay the ticket did not have any prices on it, it was the actual ticket the waitress took our order with. I don't know of I was charged properly or not. Not once did the man (who acted and looked like the owner or manager) did not one time ask if everything was alright or how the food was or service or our experience. He asked no questions, which leads me to believe that he already knows its not a good restaurant. It is always disappointing when you spend over $100 for an unpleasant experience. Highly disappointed and would not recommend...
Read moreI was shocked at the experience we had here. Everything is overpriced, the building seems run down, the food is lacking. The pizza wasn't great- less quality than CiCi's buffet. The salad bar didn't have very many options and the lettuce was less fresh then I typically expect. My daughter's favorite food is spaghetti but the spaghetti was inedible to her standards at 8 years old. She has never turns down spaghetti including frozen spaghetti. We went with friends and were left with a huge bill for food that we didn't enjoy in a place that looked dated with bad aesthetics. Some of the other friends that we went with also did not enjoy their experience. One of the families we were with enjoyed the food. I still think it deserves a one-star. This was one of the worst places that I've been to in Columbia. May explain why we were the only table eating in the restaurant...
