Bar None's a cool bar, but you have to have the right mindset and expectations. There's been a few times that I've gone on a Friday or Saturday night and been disappointed, but I recently went during the week and had a great time. I asked what kind of seltzers they had, and after not being satisfied with the selection of flavors, the bartender offered to make me a comparable drink, which ended up being really good! In addition, the food is mainly just your basic bar food, but was actually really good! The chicken tenders and fries were solid, but the mozzarella sticks were great! The bartender (I wish I could remember his name) was really cool, and I was able to strike up a nice conversation with some other patrons. All-in-all, the best way to describe Bar None is that it's a great Sunday-Thursday bar, but maybe not the exciting bar you're looking for on a Friday or Saturday night. As such, would recommend!

Change is inevitable. But every so often you find something that rolls with the times but still manages to feel the same, and familiar. Bar None is that kind of bar. It's kind of exactly what you want in a local neighborhood bar. It doesn't cater to any one crowd, and even though it's in Five Points, don't think that it's a "College bar." It's just a bar. The food is good (best fried mushrooms in Columbia, actually), they have a good selection of beer including local stuff (try Hunter Gather's ESB, it's a staple), they know how to mix a decent drink and the service is prompt and friendly. The TVs are there but they're not obnoxious so it doesn't feel like a sports bar. The decor is eclectic but not like it's trying too hard. And it has a great shuffle board table. The place just feels right.

Amazing Irish pub / Dive bar. I loved the friendly and lively atmosphere and the good music selection playing in the background. Food is really good, definitely gotta try the Chicken Wings and Corndogs. I loved them! I’d give their wings a 10/10, French fries came in big portions. This will be my new favorite spot when passing through Columbia. Sam was an awesome bartender!

My friend and I waited for nearly two hours to get in after hours. During that time two of the employees, yes-the employees, had initiated fights with the customers in line. Extremely unprofessional. You’d think it’s their job to mediate problems rather than getting their buttons pressed and initiating combat (it turned into a long brawl). Anyhoo, after a while we were at the front of the line about to be let in and I be of the employees had said an incredibly racist and hurtful comment to me not sure what his name was but we had spoken several minutes earlier and he seemed kind. I was in shock as we were just starting our night causing no trouble trying to avoid the commotion going on. We didn’t gripe or moan about the line or anything. We contributed nothing to the drama nor did we make any comments to others. The comment was along the lines of “you and all your privilege”… horrible… my jaw dropped. we were dressed nicely I suppose (windsor and a fake mk bag) but I am imagining the privilege he was speaking of had to do with my skin color… (white female????). It was incredibly hurtful. I know he just got out of a fight and was feeling some type of fight or flight but we had nothing to do with anything nor did we speak to him in any ill manner, I will never go back and I expect an apology for this downright rude and unacceptable behavior from employees.

I never expected to get bullied on a night out. Don’t come here if you want to be disrespected or assaulted by employees of bar none for absolutely NO REASON. If you’re into that this is the spot!!!!

Also the bartender came out to fight. He started crying at one point saying why can’t we all get along and then started throwing hands… maybe stop letting your employees get crunk on...

Yesterday, while I was in town for a conference, we took a small tour of the city. Our first accidental discovery of a bar was Bar None. There were fewer than ten people in the entire bar when we walked in. A few of the patrons greeted us as we sat down. After asking what we would have, the bartender arrived and brought us menus. There was no drink menu when he handed us the food menu. He said he could prepare any cocktail and that they had a full bar. We then requested a tequila-based drink. #1 The cocktail was not nice; he used too many components. #2 Asking for a card happened about five seconds after the drink was placed on the table. Although some patrons at the bar have not begun a tab, he clarified that this was protocol. A single party entered and sat at the bar without giving the bartender any money. A payment would have been expected from each person if it was standard procedure for everyone to open a tab. All in all, because of the bias, I will not be returning to this establishment and I do not suggest...
