Here's a BIG shout out to the owners and staff at the Chinese American House on Garner's Ferry Rd. in Columbia. We ordered from there last night. Man, did we enjoyed their food! On a scale of 1-10, we give them an 11 for both food and service! I've personally known the owners, Mr. Joseph and Ms. Barbara, for the past 11 years. They are both Christian people and I'm proud to say that they're also my friends. I trust them implicitly. I have ordered food from this establishment every week for the past 11 years. I highly recommend Chinese American House. They have the BEST FOOD for the BEST VALUE, more so than any other restaurant (Chinese or not) here in Columbia (and in SC, FL or any other state I've visited/lived). Don't just take my word for it. Try it for yourself and see. I order food 50-60 times per year from this place. And how many times have we been disappointed A big, fat 0 (ZERO)! Here's an interesting (and true) fact. When I was on assignment in FL, I was going stir crazy when I couldn't eat their food! Even when I came back during visits, I would always make sure I got their food BOTH when I came home and when I left out. That's just how great their food is! Keep serving the great food Mr. Joseph, Ms Barbara and all of the staff. You guys and gals are great! God's will, I'll see y'all again next week, per usual! CAM will always have my family's TRUST and SUPPORT. They have our endorsement and 100% seal of approval. I encourage everyone to try their food. I promise you will not be disappointed!
From happy and loyal customers, Mr....
Read moreToday was my first time ordering from here. I was really craving some good food, and based on the reviews, I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the bulgogi, vegetable lo mein, and spring rolls.
Let me start by saying the presentation was great, the service was amazing, and the restaurant itself was very clean. But the food just didn’t hit the mark for me. It was definitely better than the last four spots I’ve tried, but still not quite there.
The spring rolls tasted like they had been frozen, thawed, maybe even refrozen, then fried just off in texture and flavor. The lo mein was okay, but the veggies were overly soggy and the noodles a bit too chewy. As for the bulgogi, it lacked seasoning and didn’t seem to be marinated properly the flavor just didn’t go all the way through the meat. The rice also had some hard spots, like it hadn’t been cooked evenly.
I really wanted to like it here. I had high hopes, but unfortunately, I spent money on food I couldn’t finish. Just being honest it’s nothing personal, just...
Read moreMy sister called early to place an order to be picked up later in the day, and upon arrival they were still preparing the food. Though they had a phone number, a courtesy call was never extended to make it known that the food was ready. 30 minutes after waiting, my mom asked for a refund ($$$), as the party had started, and we saw no need in waiting on the already late food. The manager was called and there were unnecessary remarks made by the employees regarding her request for a refund. It was completely inappropriate and highly unprofessional. Things like "Do you want the food or not?!", "That's not our problem.", and uncalled-for eye rolls and attitudes. By the end of the back-and-forth started by the manager we received our order and a store credit. We will no longer be going there and subject ourselves to such lack of professionalism. Had we not spent so much money the situation may have been different, but because we did: they didn't want to give it back, and we were set on not walking out...
