I rarely write reviews for fast food restaurants unless they have specifically peaked my attention. In this case, the McDonald's off I-65 at Bear Creek Pike in Columbia, TN wins the prize but not for good reasons.
On my drive home from visiting family over the holiday, I chose to stop and dine in for a quick low-key lunch. To note on first glance this McDonald's was decorated for the holidays the floors were mostly clean as were the restrooms. When I got to the counter place my order the young man behind the counter was friendly smiling. As he was about to take my order, what appeared to be his shift lead in a slightly different management uniform stepped up to him and made him stop. When he quietly noted that he was about to take my order she raised her left hand to his face doing her very best Zooey Deschanel impression of "talk to the hand," and started to put in her own order of a sandwich. The young man behind the counter and I locked eyes both glanced at her and both had the same exasperated expression. Then she had the audacity to lock the register so that he had to get another manager to come unlock it to take my order. You might understand why this peaked my interest.
If this has been the only experience I would have written it off, as a tired shift lead or assistant manager needed a break. Instead when my food was presented to me by one of the line staff, the only impression I can give was that she glared at me as she provided me my bag and quickly dashed back to the prep line.
It was at this point I started to take a lot more critical look at this McDonald's. I had discounted that half the ketchup packets in the box for customers to choose from, we're smashed and stuck together in the box on the counter. Likewise the soft drink lid dispensers were mostly empty. There was litter under a number of tables and an empty (used) Happy Meal box placed close by one of the garbage cans in the window.
Will this review make a difference? Probably not... Most fast food places staff turn over at approximately 150% rate over a year. The majority of the people at this particular McDonald's will likely be gone by mid spring of 2022. So why write a review? Because without feedback like this the management company running this McDonald's will not understand that their staff is neither happy nor doing their jobs with the exception of one smiling individual at...
Read moreDecided to get a quick treat for the kids so stopped at this McDonalds on Bear Creek off of I-65 @ exit 46. I ordered a ice cream cone and asked for it to be in a cup (for a 2 yr old in a carseat), a Oreo McFlurry, and 10 PC chicken nuggets w/ large fries and large coke. I paid at the first window to a guy who acted like it was an inconvenience, then pulled to the second window. Well, let me say the encounter with the 2nd window was not any better. They guy, with a headset on comes to the window and questions me about the "cone", again I said I need it in a cup with a spoon, it's for a 2 yr old in a carseat. He gives me a look and goes and comes back with it. Then he goes to do the McFlurry, I am watching him. He generously fills the cup and puts the lid on and fills it with crushed Oreos, and comes straight to the window. I said, "You know this is a McFlurry, right?" He has a confused look, and I said it's not blended. I watched you make it. He then sighs deeply and leaves the window. He comes back and refuses to look at me, sticks his arm out the window, and looks away, waiting for me to take it. When I look in the cup, it is blended but only half full! He comes back with the rest of my order, still refusing to look at me, hands me the bag with the chicken nuggets, a half filled large order of fries, the coke, and a straw. Still never looked, no words exchanged, and closed the window. I pulled into a space to check my order in the bag and give it to the kids. I debated on going in and talking to the manager. But that meant taking the kids out of the car, and going inside, it wasn't worth the trouble. It was 98° outside, and everything would be melted and the food cold. Can you please explain to me why these people complain about what they are paid, which is more than most people who live on social security receive, yet have absolutely no clue about customer service, or how to actually prepare what is ordered or how to treat people who are paying their salary? I WILL NEVER EVER WILL STOP AT THIS LOCATION AGAIN! There is absolutely no reason for this type of service, especially when there was no more that 3 customers in the store and no one in the drive thru until I was leaving and saw a car pull up...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. I spent 23.84 on breakfast for my son and I. First not once at the window to pay nor at the pick up window did they say hey how are you go morning… ok let that go.. once I got to know he pick up window and they handed me my food I checked it to make sure it was all there. Well I got 3 biscuits 1sausage and 2 gravy and the biscuits was hard. I asked if I could have soft biscuits and even had the girl feel them. So she tells them when she hands me the “new” ones they was hard. So I asked for a manager he walks up yelling at me tells me that is all he has is hard biscuits and the best he can do is microwave and I said really.. then he tells me to get out of his drive thru. I ask him if he is serious and he said get out of my drive thru or he is calling the cops. Not once did I yell cuss or be unruly. My son starts crying and says mom please leave we will just take the hard biscuits. When I asked for his name and the lady’s name he said get the f out of my drive thru I’m calling the cops! I work around this McDonald’s and I go there all the time to get me and my employees lunch a few times a week and I have never been treated this way! To top it off the gravy said to use it by 4:04 am today… I have tried to call the store over 15 times and they won’t answer!!!! Do better McDonald’s!!!! If you don’t like your job find something else....
