After two attempts to support this "Black business," I finally went here only to encounter a white male who was rude to me, and is the co-owner. I asked for a menu and he gave me one on the counter. I reviewed menu and asked several questions to verify the prices. I was on the phone with a friend who had visited the DC location and said the crabs were good but expensive. Finally I made a selection. Mark went to the register to ring it up and came back and told me it was more than the price printed on the menu and I VERIFIED with him. He then said, the menus were just printed. I asked when, TODAY, no he replied a couple days ago. I commented any reputable owner would honor the printed price that he acknowledged BEFORE I placed my order. He refused. Then he commented, "Well it looks like you came in with a bad attitude. " My friend on the phone heard everything. It is very obvious Mark doesn't know what a AA with a "bad attitude, " sounds like or acts like. I articulated myself without raising my voice or "cussing" him out. I wonder if he knows the Consumer Protection Agency protects consumers against business owners like him who don't acknowledge printed prices. Such a disappointment after two attempts to finally visit and support R & L. R & L I would be cautious of who you partner with. It is YOUR brand. Customers CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS and their PRINTED MENU prices. I will NOT visit this location again or recommend anyone to visit here. If it happened to me, it could happen to you. He is lucky Madea didn't show up here and he tried to do this to her.😂
Wow! Honesty isn't Mark's best character trait or maybe it's amnesia. You quoted $15 when menu stated $12. Luckily I posted menu.
Folks be VERY wary of this owner. Glad I had a friend on the phone and my son. I didn't want a crab sandwich for half price. He explained that the +price for substitute of crab sandwich with soup and sandwich combo. I opted to NOT choose that selection. As mentioned this was my 1st time successfully arriving here. I DIDN'T grab menu from him, but took menu from plastic display on counter before he took menus up. I walked out after he told me $15 for soup and shrimp salad sandwich combo but menu stated $12. As you see in his other reply on picture of menu, he stated ONLY $2 difference. Either dishonesty or amnesia. I took pictures of menu and continued to talk to my friend outside. Initially he told me he was owner but after sending my friend picture of menu, she confirmed she went to DC location. I went in and asked if the AA sisters owned this location, then and ONLY then did he state he co-owned it with them. Even my friend of over 20 years said i didn't sound upset. I was disappointed because i read the reviews from local news, but don't believe everything you read. It doesn't matter who advertised establishment. BE VERY WARY of this owner, he likes to LIE and BLAME customers. NO OTHER guests were in the store the second time. He won't be around for very long! NOT REPUTABLE business owner. He should've done right thing and honored $12 as printed on menu. I write reviews to WARN others. Read other reviews and this owners response. It is a trend. He BLAMES customers. I went to my favorite seafood establishment that has been around for over 75 years that i have frequented for over 30 years. Got a huge broiled crab cake sandwich with soup and EXCELLENT customer service. Crisfield Seafood! FYI $24
I hope R & L are reading this review or I may need to send letter. Your co-owner is unjustly characterizing another AAF as an angry "Black woman. " Wait you are co-owner with two AAFs. This why we need our own 100% owned businesses. Wouldn't trust him as a...
Read moreMy father is 69 years old and got a part time job at R&L delivering crabs he actually really liked working there but had to quit because he is having vision problems with his eyes.his eye sight was actually getting to be dangerous while driving and not only for him but for all other drivers on the road. So he had to quit and thought he was leaving g on good terms because the owners seemed to be very understanding until it was time to give my father his last paycheck. She left him a check he went and picked it up deposited it into his account and it bounced due to non sufficient funds. So he contacted Raeshawn and she gave him some kind of excuse and he was supposed to meet her at R&l one evening at 5 pm to pick up his money. The day he was supposed to meet her Raeshawn contacted my father through text message and asked if he had cash app for him to send her the info. He done that and she totally ignored him after that. She wouldn’t answer any of his texts or calls and this was a couple days before Christmas.. so I contacted her and she gave another excuse saying we had to close the store because it was so slow. That she had every intention on paying my father after christmas well it’s after Christmas and he hasn’t got paid yet it’s actually been almost a month since he should have got paid. So she knew that the check she gave to my father was bad and was going to bounce and he had the bank hold onto it so he doesn’t lose it. here it’s been almost a month and it’s after Christmas and she is still totally ignoring him.she owes him like $397.00 and she won’t honor it.so now he just had to get a lawyer and next he has to contact the labor board. He has tried to give the owners more than enough time to personally take care of paying him. He was told that they were personally going to take care of it but it’s been I About 2 months. They supposedly have 2 crab businesses one in Columbia and one in Washington DC and they both have full time jobs so why is it so hard to collect his pay check...
Read moreI gave it 3 stars because my husband enjoyed the crab cake sandwich. The front line service people were kind as well. If it were only for the crabs it would be 1 or 2. I paid an extra $20 to get the med. Not surprised to not see any 6 inch crabs but disappointed to see 5 inch crabs tip to tip. The crabs were cold however not surprising since I arrived 10 mins early and they were in a paper bag just sitting on the counter. The crabs were also watery. Very disappointed and won't be back.
I read the response. You can either believe a customer or not believe a customer, but as a business owner you should never blame the customer. The reason we provide feedback is to give business owners the opportunity to fix things we feel need fixed, and provide praise when it is earned. I live 12 mins from your store and would never expect steamed crabs to be cold on my commute home. The crab cake was still hot however you also had them stored in a hot fridge. If I had known that I would have to reheat the crabs I would not have ordered them. I have never had a similar problem at other crab places. The other places also store the crabs wrapped and placed into a bag rather than just in a paper bag stapled. It may be something you would want to look into. My commute home also doesn't account for the size and or them being watery. If you do measure every crab then something went wrong because they were not the right size. And in reading some of the other comments, I agree you should contact your vendor for quality or review the way you store them. I didn't realize the crabs were brought in freeze on Wed from LA. Again I am not attacking you, I am providing constructive feedback based on my...
