Had a pretty frustrating experience today when I tried to order on DoorDash on a Sunday. The website and the app both said they were open and accepting orders however, after placing an order through the DoorDash app, I was later contacted by the DoorDash driver to tell me although the door said they were open and were only according DoorDash and pick up orders, there was NO ONE IN THERE and the place was clearly closed and the door was locked. The Dasher was waiting outside this restaurant for nearly 30 minutes calling, I was also communicating with the Dasher and was calling the store. Initially the line was ringing and would eventually send me to voicemail (as it did with the Dasher) but after about 15 miners, there was no more ring and all calls went straight to voicemail. After about 45 minutes the app updated to say the store was closed. It was such a hassle! After going back and forth with DoorDash customer service, they eventually agreed to provide me a full refund. Super disappointed and irritated by the experience I had today. I am a regular there and usually go and pick up the food myself but due to feel a little under the weather/exhaustion, I tried ordering. I am definitely hesitant to trust that again…completely lost my appetite for Sushi now. If you aren’t actually open on Sundays, don’t advertise that as such! But if something unexpected occurred, inform customers in an outgoing voicemail or a note on the door stating that and apologizing for the inconvenience or something. Don’t just cut everything off and go silent. What they did is just poor...
Read moreI had put off going to this place since it opened but decided to check it out for lunch yesterday. $27.00 later, I was not very impressed. Although sushi is their main focus, I went with fried gyoza for an appetizer, chicken katsu, and seaweed salad. The gyoza were on the small side and very hard/crispy in spots, and I'm not too certain if they were homemade or from a bag; they seemed very much like the ones you can find at any grocery store. The chicken katsu was okay, but not worth the $11.95 price tag for what is basically a pounded and breaded deep-fried chicken breast and a scoop of white rice. The seaweed salad was exactly what you'd expect from any Japanese restaurant, but also not worth the $4.95. The service was pretty slow for a lunchtime crowd of only four groups. I placed my order and ran to the store, yet still had to wait an additional 10 minutes when I returned. Not sure what the rest of the staff of three were keeping busy at, but the poor waitress/hostess/bus girl/phone answerer was almost running trying to keep up. Add to that a severe language barrier (she is authentic Japanese), and the rather bland decor, and you come away with an experience that is less than satisfying. One final note about price, I eat at a lot of places throughout Columbia and for $27.00 I usually get a solid two meals or more out of it. Sorry Mari, but you have some...
Read moreAs an Asian, we crave for the authenticity of the food we eat. Hearing servers and sushi chefs speaking in Korean when I'm in a Japanese restaurant really affects everything. Having bulgogi and ramen with kimchi in their menu sealed the deal that this is a Japanese/Korean restaurant, I can't say it was fusion because it was not fused together properly. It is no different from Sushi On in Fairoaks VA where it's a Japanese restaurant but everybody that works there are Chinese, same with Uma Uma in Ellicott City where it is a Ramen restaurant but Korean owned. Sushi was ok for dinner, everyone was raving about the lunch specials which we did not have. I ordered the Seafood Tonkatsu ramen and it was mediocre, the soup base was bland and nothing memorable about it. I still considered Satsuma in Bethesda as the best Ramen place and Sushi Q as the best sushi lunch special deals in South Maryland area. I gave 2 stars because servers are attentive and polite. I spent more that $50 on dinner for 2 and I came home so unsatisfied that I made...
