I spent roughly the first decade of my life between Maryland and Ohio, and that was enough to convince me that I didn't like pizza. A few years into the next decade living in New Jersey, friends and classmates convinced me that it was different there, and they were right! I loved pizza. College and work brought me back to this area, and for years I resigned myself to the reality that good pizza was simply unavailable in the DMV. Every now and then, the part of me that wanted to be wrong would order a pizza from a place with a promising name and glowing reviews, only to find another Ledo's imitator, or an inedibly tough crust with tomato sauce that barely saw light between the can and the dough, topped with "cheese product".
That changed when I found Enrico's. I went back a few times to make sure it wasn't just a fluke, but found the same thing each time. From the unassuming ambience to the delicious pizza, to unexpectedly good gnocchi, everything about this place reminds me of the trattorias I took for granted in New Jersey. Their meatballs are second only to my little sister's middle school best friend's Italian grandmother's meatballs, and it's close. One of the worst days of my life happened last year; by the end of it, I left my house, unsure of where I was going, and I wound up here. I'm not going to say that plate of pasta solved any of my problems, but it all felt so familiar that for the first time that day I felt truly at home.
I realize for a review about a restaurant, I've made precious little mention of the food. I promise it's good. It's the only pizza I'll eat in this state, and probably the only takeout pasta dishes I would pay for without a preceding night of hard drinking. If you eat a meal here, you will like it, and if by some personal moral failing on your part, you don't, then you'll be comforted that you didn't have to...
Read moreI don't speak from one so-so experience. I speak from literally HUNDREDS of great experiences. I used to work in the same shopping center and would go there nearly every day. My family and I still go there on a regular basis. That includes birthdays, etc.
The man who owns this small chain Gianni, and his manager Roberto, are fantastic. The food is very good, traditional Italian from the old country. It is consistantly served hot and with a sense of pride. I prefer the subs (GREAT ITALIAN COLD CUT!) and the Spaghetti w/Meatballs. You can get pizza by the slice and wine by the glass in addition to Italian dishes and subs. I have NEVER been disappointed with my food or the quality of service. They are all a little shy, until you get to know them, but are very eager to please and take alot of pride in their work.
If you are looking for a good meal, especially if you want to take the family out for an informal dinner that is a good value AND has a family atmosphere, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place which we simply call, THE ITALIAN PLACE. Located in the Kings Contrivance Village Center near Harris...
Read moreBest pizza in the area by a wide margin. Friendly staff and ownership. I have tried a lot aside from the pizza (because it’s so good) but they seem to have a good mix of pizza place staples and true Italian classics.
