The actual quality of the ice cream is almost as good as it used to be. The problem comes from 1) getting order incorrect, 2) getting flavor incorrect, and 3) the scoops are a lot smaller than they used to be.
I ordered cookie dough on bottom and smores on top in waffle cone. Partner order two scoops smores in waffle cone. His was correct. Mine was smores on bottom and some kind of cookies&cream with chocolate chunk deal. There were these HUGE (1 inch and more) pieces of chocolate bar, and faint bits of the chocolate part of an oreo. The smores tasted very fake even though I could see real marshmallows.
They turned the ice cream upside down into a bowl, so you are wasting even more junk for a landfill. It also makes you realize the scoops are TINY. We paid $5.75 per person and it was a real let down on portion size. It was less ice cream tgan Simply Rolled (but Simply Rolled is amazing and well worth the price). Think about those $1 solid plastic ice cream scoops. Think about how much ice cream fits in there... Roughly 3 tablespoons. Their idea of 2 scoops is about 3 of those. In other words, about 2/3 cup ice cream. Stingy beyond belief, but still charging premium prices.
I won't go back here and it used to be a huge favorite as a kid. Do yourself a favor and go to Rita's instead if you want a huge portion of great ice cream. Or Simply Rolled for the wholly unique ice cream. Or Johnson's Real Ice Cream for really high quality. Or for the smooth gelato/custard ice cream, go to Culver's or Whit's Custard. You have a ton of options, and Graeter's should not be...
Read moreLove the Ice cream here and the employees are nice. It has a very nice seating area for eating your treats, but it’s a little loud during busy times. There’s a nice contained area for kids to play. ( Which is mainly what I’m reviewing). The new location opened within the last few months and it looks awesome . We finally checked out today and it was very busy, but it was a rainy Saturday. This location is definitely an improvement on the old one. I love the fact that they have a 3 and under section. My almost 4 yo girls are too big for it now, but if you can keep your little one in the area, it’s nice to know they won’t be ran over or kept off the equipment by the bigger kids. If you want to avoid chaos it’s probably best to go on weekdays when all the school age kids are in school. It also looks like they’re still ironing out some kinks because one of the slides was closed off which limits the # of exits from the upper area during busy times. I hope they figure out a way to make it work soon. I heard it was too fast, so maybe they could put some speed bumps in;). My girls don’t like the the smaller closed in slides as much, especially if lots of kids are trying to use it. They also have a cool scarf vacuum shooter thing but it was jammed up.:). Still cool looking. I look forward to going going on...
Read moreWe recently took our three year old granddaughter to this Graeter's for ice cream and to play at the indoor playground. She had a great time on the clean, well designed play area. When she was ready for ice cream we headed to the counter, where I explained to the staff member who waited on us that our granddaughter has a nut allergy and asked if she could use a scoop that had not been used for flavors that might contain nuts. This was the first time we had taken her to a Graeter's, so I wasn't sure what sort of response I would get. The server told me she would use a new scoop that had been sanitized and would also scoop from a new container of the flavor we requested. In addition, we watched her retrieve a large plastic container labeled "Allergy Kit". We sincerely appreciated her friendly response to our request and were impressed that Graeter's had gone to such lengths to accommodate customers with allergy issues. This may seem like a minor issue to those fortunate enough not to have to deal with it, but it can be life-threatening to those who do. We applaud Graeter's for their thoughtfulness and great service, and they will be our first choice for ice cream...
