Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend Harvey’s as a favorite dining option in Columbus. Poor dining experience on 21 Feb 2019, followed up to restaurants General Manager via web “contact us” on 26 Feb 2019, followed up to restaurants CEO via web “contact us” on 6 Mar 2019, followed up to CEO via US Post Office mail on 12 Mar 2019. Today is 18 Mar 2019 and I have never heard from anyone at Harvey’s, clearly our poor dining experience and 3 “contact us” attempts haven’t registered with the company’s leadership.
21 February 2019 restaurant experience. Host was very pleasant. Server was prompt and took drink/app order, even up sold us to the extra pour on wine. Order taken and we really had to laugh at trying to upsell .25 for egg or cheese added to a salad (maybe raise the price of all salads .25 and then offer complimentary egg or cheese). For an “upscale” restaurant we just thought this was funny. Ordered Prime Rib/Potato/Salad and Shrimp &Grits/Salad. Meal arrived and Shrimp & Grits were fine – Prime Rib was cold, and tough (I did ask for an end cut) but it was leather tough and had zero flavor. For a “house specialty and melt in your mouth tender” it was extremely disappointing. It almost seems as if the prime rib came off the food service truck precooked ready to be warmed and served. Baked potato was not cooked through at all, top portion was soft but bottom half was rock hard and cold. Server either got busy or something else as another server finally came by and returned with horseradish. Then we finally got iced tea/water refills. Shame on me for not voicing that my meal was cold and flavorless then and there, however we had after dinner plans and did not want to be delayed, nor did I want to ruin our date night. Harvey’s has always been a steady local restaurant for special occasions, business dinners, and date night, however this night was a...
Read moreOk, I went there with high hopes. The service is bubbly and kind. ...but. at 2pm on a weekday, Harvey's did not meet expectations. I ordered the chicken with the ham sliced atop and cheese. It was ok, but the chicken breast was so thick that it really wasn't cooked through. The baked potato was so old cooked that it didn't want to skin cut. And the salad, we'll the brought my dinner compansions, but not mine. Not until I had to ask after my food came. Then a lame excuse of I didn't hear you. Well, you read the order back. And you didn't deliver my compansions, someone else did. There was so much visiting with employees to employees, service in the kitchen and floor was really deficient. How can you mess up orders when there isn't many people (just a couple) in the restaurant. More employees than customers. You screw it up when people aren't paying attention. Simple. Don't make excuses, make it right and quit screwing it up right then. But it didn't stop. Even the check was messed up. We waited forever until asking. Waitress was chatting with employees at the bar. Drop it and walk off. Wow. And when I was asked what kind of dressing I wanted on my Caesar salad. The waitress brought out a bunch of salad dressings. Well, that would be Caesar dressing. Tells me you brought the wrong one and then you have got to fix that.
Just focus, ok. Not that hard. No distractions. If you want to visit with employees taking a break, then clock out and join them.
Visit, not worth it. Won't be back and cannot recommend this place at all for lunch. It seems the employees are way too comfortable with...
Read moreA friend and I eat at Harvey's in Columbus at noon on week days. The new renovation is great, but the service has gotten worse. The last 2 out of 3 times I've visited the restaurant, my order has been wrong. I asked for hamburger steak well, well done, and the waitress stated that she thinks it only comes one way. That's not true because I've always gotten it well done. She brought it to me medium rare.
The manager offered to cook it over, but I wouldn't have had time to eat it since we were already 40 minutes into a one hour lunch.
He took the meal off my ticket.
The second time it took the elderly hostess a while to seat the customers ahead of us and make it back to the front. When we were seated, our server passed by and said he would be with us shortly. He took drinks to the table next to us, then proceeded to hold a long conversation with five customers at the table about their lives. The conversation lasted 10 minutes.
I stopped another server and asked him if he'd take our order. He did. Our original server stopped by after he finished his conversation, and said he was sorry but he got held up.
Again we had to stop the gentleman who took our order because we were 45 minutes into our lunch, and still no food. When we received our food, my order was wrong.
This is not the Harvey's we're accustomed to. I know the renovation has nothing to do with the service; but since the renovation, the service has...
