The Ranch House — Restaurant in Columbus

Let me start by saying that I like Sam's Ranch House. I like and enjoy the people and I normally go for breakfast which I always enjoy. Recently however we wanted to try their dinner on Friday and I am sad to report that we were not happy or impressed. First of all if you're going to charge that much for something simple then it better be damn good and it wasn't. Kids Mac & Cheese w/ ham should not have cost $9. I could have made better at home. I go to a restaurant to get something different or better than what I may make myself. Steak/shrimp kabobs with coleslaw and baked mac & cheese was the special for $24.99 and soooooo not worth it. Well,.let me start out by saying this was a shot in the dark stop. The reviews were pretty good, so after our bussiness in Columbus MS, we decided to eat here for lunch. On Sundays there is only one choice, a Hot Bar. Let me tell ya, the choices were great. I had pork tenderloin, green beans, and sweet potatoes. It was fantastic!!! My wife had barbeque chicken, mac and cheese, and creamed potatoes. She especially loved the mac and cheese. The service was very good. It is definitely a local favorite!!! I will be back someday. Heck,..I just might drive the 1 hour and 17 minutes just to eat here again! I do HIGHLY recommend this...

Went at night time. There were people eating items that we did not see on the menu. I guess they have secret menu items??

Also, our waitress made fun of our order when checking us out. My husband and I just kinda looked at each other like did she really just do that?

And, the food was so mid. The fries tasted stale and warm, the chicken was overcooked and dry, and the prices don't reflect the quality of food we got. I think this place needs to train their cooks and wait staff better. We hopefully will venture back but not for a long time. They need time to work on their product...
