My mother has been wanting to take me to this place for a while now so today we went. We showed up about 5 minutes till closing and my mother placed the order and also apologized for showing up so close to closing time. The lady working the register didn't respond whatsoever and to my mother's apology or order. She acted like a robot and just told my mom to put her card In the card reader then continued to ignore my mother trying to make polite conversation. We made our order then they called us up and I went to grab it. Then my mom realized they gave us the wrong order then the same lady who took our order told my mom that it was what she ordered and would not change her order. Then my mom asked for a refund and she expressed how disappointed she was in the service. The really disrespectful employee now walked away and another women walked up to the register and then said they do not know how to refund so they called their manager from there other location to explain how to do a refund which they were still not able to do 10min + into this very stressful situation. Finally they said they would send the bill to their manger who they said at some point would refund us...then we just left. Very rude service and I've heard they have good food but to me doesn't mean anything at all with service like this. Very disappointed and will definitely...
Read moreI decided to swing into the parking lot on a whim, as I was passing by, and after much deliberation, I ordered the Northampton. I was hoping for a sweet waffle with some spicy chicken or sausage, but I wasn’t wholly disappointed with the spicy Mayo that came with the chicken filled waffle. In fact, I LOVED the spicy mayo. And the waffle was thick and airy and moist and ever so slightly sweet…as you would expect from a typical waffle. On the other hand, the waffle experience was quite nice. The quality of the food was pretty good.
The reason why I can only give a 3 and not recommend the place is because as I was watching my waffle being prepared, I was a bit remorseful over the $7 I paid for it ($5.75+tip). That subsided as I watched the batter being ladled onto the waffle iron, the generous portion of chicken chunks, and then the finishing batter cover the chicken. I was thinking I can deal with the price tag, especially if it’s good. Then my to go box was handed to me and I realized that I had ordered a half portion, and my hopes were dashed.
So to whoever finished the other half of that waffle, I hope you enjoyed it, too. And I don’t know about you, but I probably won’t be back to shell out such a hefty price for a waffle again. I’ll probably just whip together a recipe and use the rest of the spicy...
Read moreThis was my first time at the truck instead their East Market location. It was really cool to experience another side of Winstons, especially with the knowledge that this food truck is their original and first location. It's this happy little oasis parked in a lot in cozy Clintonville. The vibes from the staff were friendly, happy, and warm and when you see happy employees, you feel good about being a customer. I ordered an Empire- the waffle filled with sausage and smothered in fried egg, mayo, cheese, all the fixins, the sweet waffle with all the hot savory ingredients was such a treat, and it was fresh and luscious. I had a gorgeous lavender hazelnut latte to sip on for the drive home. In the short few minutes I waited for my food and drink to be ready, I observed both seasoned loyal regulars show up to order, as well as new people. It was a cold spring morning, I couldn't wait to dig in- I hate half of it in my car, and devoured the rest when I got home. They have a fun loyalty hole-punch card program, you don't see a lot of that these days, I think that's a...
