I have passed by this restaurant several times on my way to Vesta, and always wanted to make a lunch or dinner stop but didn't have the time. On October 26, we, as a family group, made a lunch date happen.
We were a group of five and had a Ruben, chicken finger platter, southwest burger, and hamburger steak. Sides (multiple orders) were onion rings, curly fries, fried okra, Cole slaw, pasta salad, mozzarella sticks, and house salad. Desserts were Heath bar cake and several cheese cakes, some of their wonderful desserts for "to go" for various members of our dining group.
The overall comment on the food was it was excellent. A couple of our group mentioned that the food wasn't seasoned to their likening. You know, those same complainers would complain if it was over seasoned. What in the Hell happened to folks picking up the table salt and pepper shakers and seasoning their food on their own? I'm shaking and rotating my head, and Linda Blair is looking at me like I'm crazy?
For me, I had the Ruben, onion rings, and sampled the fried okra and Cole slaw. Most excellent. Two days later I fought over a larger portion of the Turtle Cheese Cake with my Better Half. She won.
Great folks, attentive young ladies at our lunch. A place to seriously consider if you are in the area and hungry. Say hello if you see...
Read moreThe food was delicious, quite a variety of flavors in the menu, definitely not what I was expecting in this small city. Reuben, cheese fries, chicken and rice soup, spinach artichoke dip with freshly fried tortilla chips. The restaurant itself could use a little more TLC. My chair had a little food and liquid on it, the menu was dirty, I had to battle some hungry flies throughout the meal, and no one greeted us as we entered. Other than that, the service was great and food was great. LEAVE ROOM FOR CAKE. Or just go there for the cake alone. People rave about Cecilia's cake in Athens, well, this is BETTER. I had a piece of lemon--super light frosting, with cake less dense than Cecilia's. Delicious. The slice was more than enough for two people. This is my favorite restaurant in Madison County so far!
Update 2023: This place doesn't disappoint. Food is just spot on. The sweet potato fries melt in your mouth. I highly, highly recommend the ciabatta and avocado. The pesto and turkey were delicious. Everything was fresh, fresh, fresh. The cheese fries appetizer is delicious with nice, thick fries, and the okra is good and crispy. I recently went to a restaurant in Clarksville that had really been talked up and had a really nice atmosphere, but the food was pricey with sadness to show for it and it was nothing...
Read moreMe and my lady friend came in on Saturday afternoon it took over 20 minutes just to get a server after we went to the counter and got menus you had no vanilla ice cream, which you were advertising it so I had to get a root beer float with chocolate which is not bad but you gave me a quick dissolving straw that melted and bent before I was even able to take my first sip of the root beer float.
The server was a young guy very much didn't have a clue on how to do things bypassing our table to wait another tables that came in after us and then got an attitude when we had to flag him down on multiple occasions
The food was very overcooked very greasy I had the patty melt the bread was so soggy I couldn't take the sandwich up and eat it I had to cut it into pieces and eating with a fork. the fries, the onion rings and the fried chicken sandwich that we had we're cooking old oil you can tell it and smell it because we're already having a bad experience I did not want to further stir the pot Then the kicker was he couldn't get the card machine to work had asked for another server to come over to help work my card.
I understand this place is a staple in the community but definitely needs to work on service efficiency and...
