My family and I only come in for one menu item, the Charcuterie Board, but that’s not why I’m making this review. The reason being that a few weeks ago, myself and a couple friends came in and ordered 2 philly flatbreads, poutine, and the jumbo pretzel; all accompanied with (by the end of our visit) 3 beers each. We sat on the patio, and it took an easy 10 minutes to get our first round of beers, and we ordered our menu items all at once, they were appetizers after so it shouldn’t have taken too long. We watched as the table next to us ate and left, then another table get sat and get their drinks and appetizers before ours. When we asked our waitress, who was obviously too busy taking care of the waitress that was falling asleep standing next to an empty table; what exactly was taking so long. Come to find out she never even put in our order. After hour and a half waiting we weren’t going to wait another hour to get our food. They also didn’t even try to make it righty by taking off a some of the beers until we complained and made them call one of the owners. I have already spoken to an owner this passed weekend, and after explaining my experience he offered me a job, but they previously turned away my friend for having too many tattoos which didn’t fit their aesthetic. If you desperate enough to ask a complaining customer if they’d like a job I’d think you wouldn’t wanna turn anyone away. I would also like to not get a hateful comment from them like I did on my last review. My family and I will not be returning. We only come for one item, and it’s no longer offered. Just wanted to share my experience because this is the cherry on top of several previously poor...
Read moreSat late lunch. Small crowd watching Cleveland playoff game. Sparky's is clearly set up for a summer crowd with lots of outdoor seating. Some outdoor seating is enclosed by rain curtains with heaters for year round use. Immediately seated. Friendly engaging waitress chatted about the food. We skipped the burgers for a taco salad and Ultimate Fish Sandwich. And sampled a cup of the Guinness Chili. The chili was great. A solid taste. I prefer more cumin in mine but it was good. The Salad and sandwiches came and they were huge servings. The fish sandwich was two huge breaded fillers, 14 inches long, 4 inches wide breaded with potato chips and served on a standard 4 inch brioche with lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion. Tartar sauce was the only condiment. A small cup of Cole slaw finished the meal. I cut one filet in half and doubled it on the bun. I ate the 2nd filet with the slaw. I finished all but that was just a huge amount of food. As we were leaving, a customer passed out and 911 was called. Luckily a person with some EMT training stepped in. All in all, very happy with Sparky's. Kind of a dive/sports bar with a really bad decor. But the food...
Read moreI love Sparky's, truly its been a destination for me and my family. However, last night my daughter and I went in for dinner and I was really disappointed. My entrée was forgotten and I got it 40 minutes after my daughter was done eating. I ordered a beer I was told they had, but they didn't. So.... the server brings me an opened beer, (that I didn't ask for, or order) as a replacement. I was never once approached by the owners or anyone else regarding why I sat for almost an hour with no food. No explanations or apologies were offered. Now, the server was pleasant and I could tell she was sorry I was waiting so long, but again it was never really addressed. There isn't a plate of food or beer in the world that can make up for sitting that long watching my daughter eat, in silence. It really bummed me out. Why didn't I say anything? Because I shouldn't have to. It wasn't busy and there were other tables getting the red carpet treatment that had only been there for 5 minutes. In fairness I'll give them another chance. But that situation should never have played...
