Dos Amigos Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Conover

The kitchen is going to kill this place which is sad because like other reviewers, I was thrilled when I walked into the place. It's immaculate, no sticky tables, nice fountain ambient noise, friendly staff....I was so glad we happened upon this place, THEN THE FOOD HAPPENED. Started with tomato soup salsa. Not a bad flavor but a texture of tomato soup. No chilies, no cilantro, no add-ins whatsoever. The wonderful server got me some chopped cilantro and a lime so I ended up adding some into the salsa which helped a lot. I ordered a Mexican Quesadilla which was supposed to come with guacamole and sour cream. I ordered ground beef (same price as other meats) as I find when I haven't been some place before, it's the safest. When my plate got to the table it had ONE folded-over greasy/oily flour tortilla with coagulated square cheese on one side and soy textured meat on the other side and it was almost COLD. (I wish I had taken a picture!) I waited for the server to come back and requested that she take it back to the kitchen to be cooked. When it came back it at least had some color on the tortilla and the cheese was softer. I quickly realized that there was no sour cream or guacamole as mentioned in the menu but my sweet server had brought me cilatro and lime and so I basically ended up making it edible with that. It really doesn't take much to make good Mexican food!! Where are the sauces? Why not rice AND beans? I didn't order from the lunch menu, why was there only one tortilla and not even cooked and flattened and greasy? Why are you using barely seasoned Taco Bell type ground beef? My husband's food wasn't much better. The pictures on the menu are not matching the food that is coming to the table. It's such a shame because everything...EVERYTHING else is lovely, especially...

I placed an order on their website. Called and it took forever for them to find it. Then my husband comes home with 0 salsa. He drove 20 mins for food. I called and confirmed the order and requested extra salsa to get none.

Then I call up there and the only thing they say is we’re gonna credit me for some salsa. We ordered Texas fajitas for two and chicken fajitas for one and you sent us no salsa at all. Great customer service great.

I guess I will find a new place to spend my money as often as I eat Dos Amigos. Thanks for letting me know how much of a value customer I am. Here I am wasting my gas to drive back and take their food back to them. This is ridiculous.

I spend my money to buy the food and used my gas to come get food…. You mess the order up. I call because I don’t eat fajitas without salsa. Now I have to use my gas to come back or eat food without all the ingredients. Where is your ownership in this issue? Then when I called someone hung up on me. I am so confused, y’all act like I did something wrong.

What do you offer your customers when you are clearly in the wrong? Free salsa that comes with the meals anyway isn’t an option for my inconvenience. You could have offered a free meal on my next visit, you could have apologized and brought it to me. Anything other than hanging up on me and acting like oh well, we already have their money and...

I was extremely impressed from the very first time we entered the restaurant. We were promptly approached by our host, and seated. Our waiter greeted us with a nice friendly smile, he was quick to take our beverage order and return with our appetizer. It was the first time that we had been in this restaurant so he gave us quality time to go through the menu, when he returned he asked if we had any questions concerning anything on the menu. Once we ordered we didn't have to wait very long on our food, in the meantime I ordered a pina colada for two, our waiter let us know that he was under age and that he could not make an alcoholic beverage and that there would be a short wait time and if we were okay with that and of course we were and we thanked him for letting us know. We had an overall splendid time. The food was marvelous, and the price was even better for all the food that we ate and the alcohol beverage that we had. If I could I would definitely rate this more than a five. At the entrance they had a beautiful outdoor venue area that would be wonderful for a shower, etc. I was extremely impressed with all the beautiful indoor decor, it was very beautiful and appealing to the eye.
