No 1 Kitchen — Restaurant in Conover

I came to this restaurant wanting to try out what they had and if it was any good. The first glimpse of this place, I immediately thought that this place was pretty dirty. Floors, tables, and the counter was dirty and dusty. The only place that actually look descent was the kitchen.

The front lady was extremely nice to the person that was in front of me (she was an African American). I was hoping to get the same service, but it did not happen that way. When the person in front of me left, she had a great big smile to send her off. When I came up to the counter, that smile turned upside down. She was the meanest and the rudest person I have ever encountered. She never let me finish my order. All she did was interrupt me. It must be because I am asian or something because she did not like me at all. It's kind of weird when you hate your own race.

When I finished my order, I handed her my debit card. For some reason, she scanned it the wrong way, and immediately threw my card on the counter and said, "It no work". I kindly say that she scanned it the wrong way and insist that she try again. She rolled her eyes at me and scanned it again. Luckily, she scanned the right side and it went through, and then she threw my card on the counter again. With that done, I immediately fled the perimeter because I did not want to lose my temper.

The food was okay, but I did not deserved to be treated like this. Usually, I do not give bad reviews, but this place deserved it. Never going...

I used to go here all the time with my mom. Since the Dollar General left, very few other places stayed in this shopping center and I think the lack of business has hurt NO. 1 Kitchen.

The good: I got the General Tso’s chicken. The chicken was awesome! They let the sauce soak into the breading instead of having that “extra crispy” texture that most places have. The egg roll was good too. Just good.

The bad: The rice and broccoli were terrible, as other users have said. There was nothing positive about the rice or vegetables at all.

I work an exit away, and wanted to try something different for lunch. Looked this place up, called in my order, and by time I got there it was ready (approx 10/15min). I got the egg roll ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and the fried chicken wings with pork fried rice ⭐⭐⭐⭐. I'm from NY, and have been in NC for about ten years now..they make the wings exactly like they do in NY- flavor and all!! Why didn't I find this place sooner!?
