Ordered the nuggets and fries for my daughters, shrimp tacos for my lady, and the enchilada plate for myself... We figured we would try something out of our comfort zone, we both looked from the outside in, let's just try it. I gave it a 2 because the enchiladas and charro beans weren't that bad, the guac was pretty good too, but when they brought out the nuggets, looked store bought. The shrimp tacos had 4 shrimp with a flour tortilla that looked about 10" in diameter, nothing but peppers, mushrooms (why mushrooms) and no flavor at all, a little char taste, ohhh and we figured they'd charge for the guac, no big deal but the lady walking around with the cart selling it was like "I'm going to make yall a big one because for the little ones too", lol ok $12 for that. I get it gotta make your money but don't tell people what they need to get. The total bill with tip was around $80, 15$ for the waiter,$65 and some change for the food. I tipped what I felt was reasonable, the waiter made sure we were good with what we needed, but we just kept quiet. We usually spend $80-$90 at this other Mexican restaurant we go to often, and that food is definitely worth it, this place not so much. My oldest daughter says, " can we just go somewhere else " that was right when we pulled up, next time I'm listening to my soon to be 7 year old. Yeah we're going to stick to our places that we know serve that real. We weren't even there 20 min, I'm the only one finished my food. I've gone taco trucks better than this place. Nobody really liked their food, and we all know kids love nuggets and fries. Where yall getting these 4 and 5...

I’ve been coming to El Jarrito back when it was a small restaurant on Mason Rd. Those were the best days! Occasionally when I’m in town my family will go to sit on the patio and enjoy some good food. We were very surprised how few people were in the Saturday before Christmas. We easily had a table set for 10 on the patio. Oftentimes sitting inside can be very loud.

The chips and salsa are good. The queso is nothing to brag about. We had guacamole made fresh from the cart. This is a little but pricier route but sure is delicious. We ordered 2 pitchers of margaritas on the rocks and many of us were very disappointed in how watered down they tasted. It was like water with a little lime and sugar flavor. Completely missing the tequila. Maybe we were given their base margarita or that’s just how they are.

My husband and I split the chicken fajitas for 1. Many times we have enough to each have a fajita and maybe share one more. Wow we’re we surprised how much meat it was!! Definitely the most chicken and onions I’ve ever seen for a meal for 1. We had lots of leftovers. Their tortillas are some of my favorites as they are thin and not heavy like many other Mexican restaurants.

The music was an interesting mix of hits and Mexican music. At one point we think it turned into karaoke but I cannot confirm that for sure.

The staff were very friendly and quick to keep refills of...

Last night reservation was a complete nightmare for my family and I. Carmen the manager in charge, was so unprofessional. Our event started at 5pm and when my brother and Mother came in at 4:35pm they said THEY FORGOT the 50 GUEST EVENT WE RESERVED. Nothing was set up in the room. No food was available until after 6:00pm. Our event was reserved from 5-8 and we didn't have any music playing in the room until 7pm. We had two kind servers who were clearly overwhelmed with handling our event and serving other guest in the restaurant. So our wait on drinks and other things took a long time. We ran out of food as they charged us $1200 for 1 TRAY OF HALF AND HALF CHICKEN AND BEEF AND 1 TRAY OF RICE AND 1 TRAY OF BEANS. BTW the tray was small not a large tray that fits a whole burner. When we addressed Carmen she told us to not stress. She said it was our fault for not giving a time of when to serve food. Although the form signed clearly stated the event starts at 5pm. We asked her to please contact the owner. she then called the police on us. The whole situation was so unprofessional complete trash. All pictures of my little sister birthday have stakes of chairs all around the room. since the room was not set up or prepared prior. I AM STILL WAITING TO SPEAK TO THE OWNER. So much happened I cant even write it all. The way that manager handled it...

This could have been 5 stars but I don't think this is a safe place to eat. First, there was a lady going from table to table with a rolling booth to make fresh table-side guacamole. Awesome. I watched her put her fingers in her mouth, twice, sampling the ingredients to her work station. She did not go back to wash her hands. Literally fingertips all the way into her mouth up to the first knuckle, back to the food, and repeat. Then off to make table-side guac. She's in one of my pictures. Don't get her guac. Second, the plastic glassware is chipped and cracked which is actually a pretty serious health code violation. These small imperfections harbor a lot of bacteria and can't be cleaned properly. They have to be replaced. See photos again. Lastly, unfortunately there was a long hair in my food. Hair sometimes happens, I get it. But my experience was already tainted and I worry for the health of anyone who eats here. The food tasted great, the service was wonderful, atmosphere was vibrant, price was fair. Just very unsanitary, and that is an automatic fail.

Update: Went back on a Thursday evening and this time I ordered enchiladas Verdes.....much much better! Also got the table side guacamole, which was fresh and delicious! Our server was busy, but attentive. Also the restaurant was a bit less busy and the music wasn't so loud this visit, so I could hear the conversation at my table. Overall much better experience. Probably best to go on weeknights and avoid on busy weekend nights. Original review: Visually a very cool place, but it was far too loud to hear the person right next to you. My dish (one of the combination plates) was rather bland. The server was nice, but at the end of our meal he was no where to be found and we had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get our check. I think he literally forgot we were still there.
