Red River BBQ & Burger — Restaurant in Katy

First Time! Have driven by several times, decided to try today on 14Jan19 ~1:30p. Place was empty except for ladies playing mahjong. Looked at menu boards, cashier walks up to register. Rather than answer quedtions about menu, she diverts all her attention to her phone. Not sure if txt or game but doesnt matter. Another guy comes in, and i wave him ahead. Cashier doesnt notice and is still on her phone when he gives his order but puts it down when guy repeats his order. We finally decide, and i forgot wallet in pickup. Run out quickly and retreive (15 seconds) and come back to find cashier has attention on phone. Get order completed (#22 i think) and sit down. While getting picklescand peppers, order is brought by young man that also brings my companion ketchup from self serve. +points here as she is having to use a knee scooter and cant get around easily.

The brisket melt is absolutely delicious and jalapeno cheddar bun was very good. Or so I am told. I had the brisket spud, and though a bit overbaked was also very good. While eating, i was watching the staff behind counter. PhoneGirl remains true to character and spends 95% of time on it. Others are working around her. Would have been great to see her grab a bottle of glass cleaner... Noticed she perks up when a certain person walks around and looks busy. Called this influencer over and learn he is manager. Asked about tip sharing and was told it is in place. Asked if I could give the serving guy a tip without having to share with PhoneGirl. Was told not normally, but would make sure it goes to him after I explained about PhoneGirl. I didnt get the guys name, but I will on next visit. $5 to guy who just brought food and togo box but had a great attitude, smile, and work ethic.

On our way out, server guy hollered Bye to us, we returned it. PhoneGirl remained distracted in her phone.

We will be back, and will ask for different cashier if PhoneGirl is perched at register. Hope ServerGuy will be there.

update: Stopped by again, no phone distractions tonite. She had brisket melt again, I did Monday chicken fried steak special. Great potato side, but I think the grill master must have kept half for himself as was very small for what I am accustomed to. Also very tough, perhaps straight from freezer to hreadingvand fried frozen. Sharper knife would have been great. ServerGuy said was very slow, I think I caught him daydreaming. PhoneGirl ran over to help ServerGuy clear table when we left. That was unexpected after last...

My husband just placed an order online and the meal cost us over $50 which is fine because normally their food is really good and it's worth the price however today when my husband came home with our order we were missing items and when I called to let them know they gave me the worst customer service one after the other. A woman there who says she's a supervisor by the name of Kaylee with the k did the bare minimum to solve my issue. She had a sarcastic attitude the whole time and clearly doesn't know good customer service regardless if she says she has been in the company for 5 years. I've been in the food industry for over 10 and I know good customer service as a manager. Because of her poor attitude as well as her employees poor attitude I give them a one star and I will never be going there again they did the bare minimum by telling me I could come back to get the hush puppies that get this Kaylee is technically responsible for me not having in the first place because she is the one who says packed my meal! The Irony! I could have easily been a really big Karen and said that I'm returning the food and I want all of my money back! So the least she could have done is been more apologetic and actually meant it as well as maybe offered me possibly a free dessert. Idk. . Yummmmmmmmmmm OMG freaking YUMMMM The ribs… All I can say is THE RIBS!!! The ribs are literally a perfect 10. Absolute PERFECTION has been achieved. If I wasn’t watching my figure, I swear I’d eat 20. I’ve been here 3x & they very consistent with the meat.

The sides are about average, which is a little disappointing. The macaroni and cheese is below average, I’m not sure if it’s boxed, but it’s not very good.

The green beans are very bland. But once you add a little salt to them, they’re OK!

The potato salad is excellent! I wouldn’t change anything about it.

Skip the corn, it is not good.

Mashed potatoes are perfect. They are filled with garlic flavor!

The cornbread has potential, but it’s a little dry. It has a great flavor, but it’s hard to eat dried Dry cornbread.

The baked beans are very very good! They are pretty sweet, so if you don’t like sweet beans, I would skip these. But I thought they were excellent!

The bread pudding is pretty good. Not the best I’ve ever had, but it’s decent.

The unlimited salad bar is so good. They have some pretty decent options. And for 10 bucks they give you a massive plate.

Overall, I think this place is really good. If they step their game up with sides and desserts, nobody in Houston would be able to...
