We unfortunately had a poor experience here. Stopped in for breakfast. Went to the counter to be put on a list / be seated. We waited behind a family paying for their meal. When they left, the person at the counter looked at us and immediately left the counter area without speaking to us or even acknowledging our presence. Another waitress eventually saw us waiting and came to seat us, but the first woman returned and told her she had to seat a table of 4 before us who happened to be waiting outside (which was fine- but they were the only table waiting to be seated). When the first waitress finally returned from wherever she went, she did not greet us but immediately asked if we wanted to be put on the list for lunch, even though it was well within the breakfast hours. We did not want lunch, so we left disappointed. (FYI- we googled another restaurant, drove there, waited in line, leisurely had coffee and our meal, and left to explore before the time Trish's even stopped serving breakfast.) I worked in the service industry and understand what it means to be super busy, but you can usually find time to greet your customers. We had already planned on waiting for a table and our food, but if you're too busy to even bust out a "be with you in just a moment", we'll take our...
Read moreMy wife & I went to Trish's Mountain Diner on a Friday evening. It was not crowded at all and we had a table right away. For food, we ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer, she went with the Mushroom & Swiss Burger and I got the Open-faced Roast Beef Sandwich. The FGT's were hot and tasty. The server threw me off a little when she asked if we wanted ranch dressing or marinara sauce with them. Marinara? Hey whatever floats your boat, I suppose. Either way, those were quite good. My wife enjoyed her M&S burger and said it was cooked just right. My sandwich was decent, but not great. The gravy had okay flavor, but reminded me of school lunch gravy back in the day. The bread was supposed to be "Texas toast" but was really just toasted white bread. My wife's side of fries were good. I had two sides - mac & cheese and fried okra. The M&C was very good, as was the okra. Our server was a sweet lady who provided excellent service and there was another server, a young man, who I noticed was also great with his tables. Very friendly people! The atmosphere was relaxed, calm and the inside was brightly lit, creating a good ambience for casual hearty dining. If/when we are back in the area, Trish's Mountain Diner will one of our stops to eat again. ...
Read moreI was not expecting this place to have such delicious food. My wife and I were on a nature hike and wanted to grab lunch somewhere close to the trail. We saw this place so we stopped in. I'll be honest, the service was slow and the food took a while. That is the only reason it's not a 5 star review.
Oh. My. Goodness. The food was so fresh and delicious. I ordered the fried catfish, which was the daily special, and it was so moist and delicious. The potato salad was phenomenal as well as the coleslaw.
The inside of the place was very clean.
The best part was the price. Very VERY good prices. My wife and I ate two entrees with two sides each, my wife also had a house salad and a sweet tea and I just had water. The total bill was only $18. Compare that to us eating in Gatlinburg at some place, I won't say that it was the Landshark restaurant, but we had nachos to split and beer and the total bill was $42. Yup, ridiculous.
Definitely check out Trish's diner! Super fresh food, clean atmosphere and friendly (yet a little slow) service. Worth the visit if...
