In 1989 in an abandoned movie-set diner in Mississippi, the deli with the slogan “Our food is our foundation” came to be. Now, with 400 locations in 28 states “they invite you to come for the food and stay for the experience.” From the famous 13 layers of the McAlister’s Club, to the giant Spuds covered with all your favorite toppings, from the delicious sweet tea to succulent soups and decade desserts. I have dined at a number of different locations and have never had a truly bad experience. Yes, some more memorable than others. This location was commendable as soon as I walked in. Clean, bright open dining area with counter ordering and padded booths and high top tables and chairs. Sitting outside one can enjoy the patio or the second story balcony. I ordered the McAlister Club with smoked turkey, Black Forest ham, bacon, sharp cheddar, mix of greens, sliced tomato, mayo and McAlister's Honey Mustard™ on wheat toast. I enjoyed the many layers of deli fresh meats and cheese, crisp greens and fresh produce, nicely stacked on wheat toast complimented with mayo and honey mustard. My side was the Mac and Cheese, that was hot and creamy with a nice mix of cheddar, American and Neufchatel cheese. To further enhance my deli dining experience, I picked up the Colossal Carrot Cake to go. A nice slice of moist carrot cake with walnuts and cream cheese frosting. My dessert of choice. Needless to say, the whole piece didn’t make it home. The long hair across my pickle was a slight deterrent but counter staff were quick to replace it with 3 more. Kalie was personable and our...
Read moreWent there to meet a friend cause he said that it was a great place since he's been there before. We got there and ordered our food, we ordered the same thing the McAlister's Club I think it's called and I ordered a grilled chicken for my mom. We did that at 7:30 and we sat down waited he got his food in about 15 minutes and I still hadn't gotten mine, he ate and the people that was behind us in line got their food and ate and went on home. So I went up to the register at 8:00 and told them that I haven't gotten my food yet so they said that they'd get it for me, so I waited again and still hadn't gotten it. At 8:26 I told them that I'm tired of waiting and I wanted my refund and was gonna go somewhere else. The one waitress that was actually helpful just said that she'd go and make it herself. So she did, and when she put the food up to be brought to me, the person she asked to bring it told her to hold on and then she went and started talked to someone else in the restaurant. So the only helpful person decided to just bring it to me and bring me a cookie as well. Took me an hour to get 2 sandwiches which is ridiculous. I will not be going back to that place needless to say I couldn't get a refund and I couldn't get my food it's ridiculous and stupid, and I will not be referring anyone...
Read moreMy husband and I had lunch today at McAllister’s Deli on 544 in Conway. (We normally dine at the McAllister’s near Coastal Grand). There was no one at the counter when we walked in and we waited a few minutes before the cashier came out - with a big attitude and seemingly annoyed that we interrupted what she was doing in the kitchen. She stood there and stared at us with an unpleasant face. No “Hello”, no “How may I help you” - she just stared at us. I finally asked her if she was ready to take our order and pointed out that she should greet the customers.
Aside from this unpleasant person, the salad had pieces of rotten greens - see photo (first time I’ve seen this). The greens were wilted and the half sandwich was probably made before the salad, so it was cold. I asked to speak to the manager - a polite young man who apologized and said he will address the issues.
McAllister’s has healthy food options and the food is quite good at Coastal Grand. At the Conway location, they need to train their staff in customer service. Additionally, a hello and a pleasant face will make customers feel welcome and they will return, providing, of course, they improve the food and service at...
