We went on a whim because of the reviews. When we got there, the entrance was labeled but when we entered it was thr bar. We left and tried to enter in the other space along thr front, nope that's the actual motel (yes it's available and running). A very kind gentleman tild us that its a common mistake and to enter the dinning room is thru the bar. We made our way in and, no one was there (this was a Monday at 6:30pm). We talked out and the woman at the bar asked what we needed and we sat outside on the porch. The town area is so cute! The waitress was wonderful and so were all the people! They started new schedules of events each day of the week as they re opened a year ago! Food....right!? Sorry lmao I got the flank steak....amazing! The fries are the BEST I've had, so crispy but not full of oil! Brussles needed some attention too so I maybe would ask for the seasonal veggie instead. Oh ya! We started w the pretzel nubbs with the beer cheese and ground mustard. Omg! Amazing! My husband got the burger and he said it was amazing, we are burger snobs. My daughter usually always orders a burger but this time, bc the meatballs are handmade/rolled, got the meatball sub which comes with their homemade Vodka Sauce! To die for! Service, atmosphere, food, all is what the reviews say it is! YOU HAVE TO GO!!Ask for the Wicked Sauce! No...
Read moreWe are from out of town and decided to get takeout from Vintage Tavern tonight, based on a recommendation. I called the restaurant to place the takeout order and couldn’t get through to them. I assumed they were busy, so I called back and was put on hold—then disconnected or hung up on. After repeating this process three more times, I decided to just place it via DoorDash (despite those prices being higher).
The order was placed by 7:10pm or so, with a pickup time of 7:45. When my Dad arrived to pickup the food, he was told it wasn’t ready yet, so he waited quietly in the back of the establishment. After the pickup time had passed, he asked when the food order would be ready—to which the woman rudely responded “it’s coming.” He proceeded to wait longer—so long, that a customer and a bartender felt badly for him and bought/gave him a drink while he waited.
When the food was finally ready, the same woman/waitress brought his food out and slammed it down on the counter and said “here’s your food.” Not only was there 0 apology for the food taking practically 1.5 hours to make (30 minutes past the scheduled pickup time), but the waitress was rude to my Dad as if HE had done something wrong.
Very poor customer service and disappointing for a takeout order of almost $200...

Stumbled upon The Vintage Tavern on our anniversary weekend and I’m so glad we did. This historic building dates back to 1831 and is fully renovated inside and out under new ownership as of March 2024. It’s classy, warm, and way more elevated than you’d ever expect from a place with “Tavern” in the name.
And let’s talk food: this is true, high-quality restaurant cuisine — not your typical tavern fare. We had the Beef Burgundy and WOW — insanely tender beef, deep rich flavor, and the horseradish mashed potatoes took it to another level. I’m a huge beef eater, and this dish easily rivals (honestly beats) many high-end restaurants we’ve tried. It’s crystal clear why they won People’s Choice for best soup and stew earlier this year — the kitchen is doing something special.
The menu is creative without being pretentious (duck flatbread, pumpkin ravioli, pretzel bites, signature sandwiches — everything looked amazing). Great service, and ownership that genuinely cares about creating a standout experience for locals and visitors.
If you’re anywhere near Tobyhanna or passing through the Poconos — make this a stop. Fantastic food, great people, and a unique blend of history and top-tier dining. We’ll...
