Addition & Preface: On the constructive side of giving a review, it gives the establishment the opportunity to consider changes that may enhance the consumer’s dining experience and to ensure repeat patronage as we (consumers) have many dining options & we, personally, are willing to pay more than average for quality products & services.*
We are unwilling to patronize an establishment that doesn’t value our opinion, isn’t open to constructive review & who IS NOT adequately cleaning the front of the house - this information was omitted from prior review, however, it now comes into play… Relieved to see those dirty, plastic, faux patchwork tablecloths changed! (And now let’s sanitize the floor…). Also, no customer should go unrecognized (be ignored) for more than 5 minutes in any restaurant lobby. That’s called a “service standard” for a reason. (Implementing “timely service standards” increases overall customer satisfaction.)
Now… *To wit: if customers say their wait for “to-go” is too long on high-volume nights, that gives management the opportunity to adequately hire/staff for “high times.” Additionally, if food isn’t prepared correctly & a customer has an issue with said preparation, it gives management valuable feedback & allows them to make needed changes and/or improvements in order to keep & increase their customer base. Lastly, before the prior review is read I want to impart that the economy isn’t great, restaurant prices have increased & if I spend over $100. for mostly pasta & veggies for 4, that food NEEDS to be quality or I will not return. (Apologies if the truth is difficult to hear but that’s the only way positive changes are made.) Bottom line here, is that my meal was TERRIBLE, not just bad. That opinion, it’s not a personal slight to anyone, just a factual experience.
Had the business reply been gracious, I probably would’ve tried their offerings again upon their request, that said…
Original Review: Perhaps the chef dropped the salt shaker in the red sauce & that’s why my lasagna was inedible? (Not even worth a picture…) Seriously, the remaining gnocchi (same sauce) & lasagna were thrown away. I took maybe four bites of my entree & the salt LITERALLY burned my mouth. VERY DISAPPOINTED in the food quality value for this holiday take-out family dinner at $117. (The Grilled Vegetable Napoleone was the best thing we ordered as it tasted fresh & wasn’t overly salty.) Lemon cake was “pedestrian” at best & the strawberry “glaze” (whatever it was on the side) was cloyingly sweet with a very artificial taste to it; very off putting. After not being acknowledged in restaurant after about 20 minutes from “pick-up time” (slow & unfriendly service…) I’d say Broccolini’s is a hard pass going forward. Additionally, had my meal been that bad in restaurant I would’ve sent it back (and I haven’t done that anywhere in 20 years). Sadly,...
Read moreMy favorite restaurant! We stumbled upon this hidden treasure after my boyfriend had his hair cut next door and were quite hungry after a gym work out. One of the patrons walking in was RAVING about how good it was and boy was he right! You will definitely want to make reservations ahead. Some days you may need to do so a couple of days in advance (a week ahead to play it safe for larger parties) especially for dining during weekends. It is a small, quaint, homely place with authentic food. We have recommended this place to many friends and have brought them along with us for dinner. Everyone is hooked. Really fresh ingredients, well-prepared, and very accommodating on substituting menu items (pasta for broccoli, etc.). Portions here are plentiful too so prepare to bring home leftovers; that is if you can refrain from eating every tasty morsel of well-seasoned food. You will not be disappointed on taste. This is a promise. We have come here countless times after our first visit. This place is so good that I will cheat on my mostly raw vegan diet for it! I don't mind the ricotta for a day of comforting deliciousness. I usually order the portobello mushroom. But EVERY single item is incredible -- no skimping on ingredients or taste -- as per my diverse eating boyfriend and all the friends we have brought along for the food and experience also agree. We will be dining there tonight again. This makes my...
Read moreThe only reason for a star deduction was the slowness of food delivery. This is not the place to have lunch if you need to get back to work. Food is prepared when you order it so it's super fresh, but takes TIME. The other diners were retirees so they were in no rush. The prices are very affordable. They have wine for $4/glass!
We arrived before noon on a Wednesday for lunch. We did not receive our entrees until after 1 PM. We did the three course lunch for $15. Our soup/salad came out in a timely manner, but we had to wait an hour for our entrees. We took a few delicious bites and had it boxed to go. We also took the dessert to go. It was 1:45 PM when we left the restaurant.
They bring you warm Italian bread served with olive oil and herbs.
I had the pasta fagioli soup and lasagna. The soup is meat free and full of white beans. It was flavorful, but salty. The lasagna was AMAZING. They give you a huge slice. It had about 10 layers and stood very tall on my plate. It has bechemal sauce to make it creamy and rich.
The bread pudding is served with a delicious caramel sauce. My friend had the cannolli.
The place has great ambiance. It can get loud. There is plenty of parking. The restaurant is right behind Pizza Hut.
Overall, the food and ambiance is great. The value is amazing. Just don't go if you want to be in and out...
