I recently found out a friend and Brother Marine Scott Botting bought the 3 Robs Bagelands in Broward, so I decided to check them out. I went to the one at 1420 Coral Ridge drive in Coral Springs and am so glad I did. Scott told me they've been fixing the places up, and when I walked in, I immediately noticed a difference. First of all, the tables were mostly occupied, and the bagel bins were full of fresh Bagels, all the Deli spreads looked fresh, as were the pastries. I was surprised how fast a server was at my table offering me coffee. I need a cup or two to get started every morning. I decided to get a Challah French toast Slam, for all my non Jewish friends, Challah bread is a sweet bread, that has a unique flavor. It was delicious, it also came with 2 Eggs that were cooked to perfection, I opted for over Medium, with Turkey Bacon and Oatmeal that came with brown sugar and raisins that was simply delicious, and a Whole Wheat Everything bagel, that literally was one of the tastiest Bagels ive ever had. After the Challah French toast, I had to keep it healthy, lol. Throughout the meal my server was very attentive, the people in the restaurant were all enjoying themselves and I realized ROBS BAGEL LAND is BACK. If you haven't been to Robs lately, you need to check them out. By the way, the Eggs didn't set me back A PAYCHECK, the prices were very reasonable AND THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS. Next time I will have to try the Corned Beef and Pastrami, which is flown in from the Carnegie Deli in Manhattan, and I'll finish it off with some Chocolate Rugala. By the way, he offers VETERANS DISCOUNTS !!!!! Great job Scott, keep up the Great work,...
Read moreAVOID! Crowded, which makes no sense since the food is WAY overpriced and not very good. I ordered a salt bagel with lox and cream cheese. Simple, right? Nope. They have "lox" and "Nova" on the menu. I asked the server if "Nova" was real Nova Scotia lox. Her reply was "the salted one?" Realizing she had no clue; I went with the "Nova." She asked "toasted?" and I said no. I received a plate with a with a refrigerator cold bagel, obviously not baked that day. Kind of damp too. Nothing on it! The cream cheese was in little unmarked tubs mixed with the fake butter and jelly. I put the cream cheese on the bagel and awaited the promised "Nova." What I received was amazing! One single slice of "Nova", pale and unappetizing looking. But it included two iceberg lettuce leaves, two slices of raw red onion, two slices of tomato, a handful of olives and maybe one other thing I can't remember. I put the "Nova" on the bagel with the cheese. I scraped some of the excessive salt off to make it tolerable. Overall, it was awful! Then, to add insult to injury, the one slice of "Nova" was a separate line item on the bill! I paid $16.99 just for one slice of tasteless "Nova!" Unfortunately, I was with a group, and it was not my turn to pay. The person paying didn't want to make a fuss, so he paid the bill. Before the tip, it was over $75 for four people. One had a mushroom omelet that had an additional charge of $6.99 for the mushrooms. Another had a "short stack" of pancakes. It was really short, three pancakes that stacked up to maybe 3/4" for all three. Can't remember the fourth. The entire meal was a disaster. DO...
Read moreI had my hopes set high on this place. I was in town this weekend helping a friend move into their new Coral Springs apartment and wanted to try out the local breakfast spot. Let’s start with the positive: staff was very friendly and helpful. That’s where the one extra star comes in.
Here’s where I was upset: I wanted to do an a la carte order. I knew exactly what I wanted, no more and no less: a pancake, a couple scrambled eggs, and shredded potatoes hash side. Staff was only able to recommend to me a 2 pancake dish that included eggs, bacon and sausage (which I don’t want), and no potatoes. I also got an iced coffee, nearly $5.00 and served with almost no ice. Nothing extraordinary by any means and had to send back for more ice. Next, I paid for my order (which wasn’t quite what I wanted) and even left a tip for the takeout...We had NO plastic cutlery or napkins included with the order...and of course, no silverware at the new apartment. I improvised with a leftover set of chopsticks from previous night’s takeout and opened a new roll of bathroom toilet paper for napkins. That was infuriating because I leave a tip to ensure the order is packed correctly! I forgot to check the bag before leaving but that’s not really my responsibility as your customer.
Food was quite basic and bland. I don’t mind paying premium prices for GOOD food that use high quality ingredients but this was clearly comparable to a Denny’s or Perkins quality. I deliberately avoid those places and seek out locally-owned and better quality breakfast establishments that use fresh, homemade ingredients. Very...
