My wife and I and my daughter figured we would try 16 Prime for the first time and my wife’s meal and my meal was great, but my daughter’s meal was wrong. When placing the order with our waiter he got it correct and even showed on the receipt correctly. However when my daughter received her omelette the higher priced omelette that was ordered should have had sausage in it actually came as the lower priced omelette and had mushrooms and asparagus in it. Not many kids eat mushrooms and asparagus, and as expected she could not eat it due to the ingredients in her meal.
We brought this to the attention of our waiter and he did apologize for the inconvenience as we all know mistakes happen.
He then stated he would get that fixed and bring us a new one for her.
A few moments later after my wife and I were done with our meal, our waiter came back with the receipt showing what we ordered and they comped us half off the price of the omelette, and I was satisfied with that still thinking he was going to bring us the corrected omelette.
15 minutes to by, and our waiter comes to us asking if there was anything else we needed at that time. We politely stated that he had mentioned that he was going to get us the corrected omelette, and his face was utter shock and stated that they comped us half off for our troubles, and stated he didn’t recall saying he would be bringing us the corrected omelette.
I was frustrated already being there longer than we would like as we were in a hurry and had an appointment to make, so we didn’t make a bigger deal and chalked up our losses and see that’s how they do business.
From a business to consumer standpoint if someone orders something and they pay for it, they should get what they ordered not a half off and you keep what you won’t eat.
This is not a good business ethic or way to treat your customers as a new restaurant.
Now maybe there was some miscommunication between the waiter and management, I don’t know, but, if you go to a high end restaurant such as let’s say a pizza place and order a pepperoni pizza but receive a pizza with anchovies that nobody wanted. Then to only be comped half the price of your meal, and not given what you ordered is not a good business practice to dish out to your consumers.
Food was good, the servers were great, other than our waiter completely forgetting that he stated he would have a new omelette brought out to us, other than that it’s a great place to enjoy a fine meal.
This may be a one off instance but ultimately ended my...
Read more16 Prime, new to Denver, NC, is a welcome addition to the local dining scene and fits a gap in the current offerings for dining in the area. 16 Prime is owned by the family responsible for Joey's and this is the second location for the restaurant brand and occupies the former Pomodoro's physcial space. 16 Prime opened mid-November and while this is our first visit, it won't be the last.
Upon entering, we were pleased to see the physical transformation and immediately felt an elevated experience and ambiance. We were quickly escorted to our table and promptly offered water; our waiter was with us shortly after. The menu offers more than adequate selections for appetizers, salads, and entrees and focuses on an excellent selection of steaks and chops while offering three fish dishes. The wine list is sufficient, but we suggest bringing your bottle and paying the nominal corkage fee. (Your Wine Stop, located 50 yards away, would be an excellent place to visit before dinner.)
Our reservation was late the day before Thanksgiving, so we opted for one appetizer and split the petite filet. The appetizer, Bang Bang Shrimp, was perfect. Our steak was nicely prepared, but the lack of a standard fired potato option left us a bit wanting as the house potatoes, prepared without the standard cheese and heavy cream, were disappointing, as were the shrimp served with the steak (I had expected grilled but these were more or less steamed earlier in the day and probably sat out longer than they should - and relatively small) we added as an accompaniment.
Service was good, and this will likely improve as the staff below the captain and waiter get up to speed. Bar service was quick, and the front-of-the-house staff was exemplary. (One small ask - store coats inside and not out on the partially covered patio.)
We will be back and are grateful this establishment is open. I hope they review their menu regularly as a steak frites option would be a...
Read moreThis was our first visit to the restaurant. We made a reservation and they sat us at a high top table by the bar upon arrival. First off, you definitely felt like you were part of the bar crowd and the noise level carried up there. Secondly, when making a reservation online, it should be noted that the time you are picking is only for a high top table by the bar. Upon arrival, after being seated, we ended up asking for a different table. We had 2 elderly people in our party that the high top table was very difficult for. Had we known ahead of time, that was our only option, we would have not booked that table.
Our initial server was definitely lacking any enthusiasm about being our server or even being there at work. You would expect a more friendly server knowing they would be dealing with the public.
That being said, once we moved tables.... Matthew was great! An exceptional server and knew the menu thoroughly and just made the evening awesome for the table!
The food was good overall.... our only exception was the wedge salad. You definitely did not get the blue cheese flavor in a wedge that you crave. Salmon, steaks and Lobster ravioli all delicious. Desserts were to die for.
Overall, not a bad experience and glad to see another fine dining restaurant in the Denver area. A special occasion place for sure and we...
