Rice Bowl 1 — Restaurant in Cornelius

So we tried Rice Bowl 1 for dinner, the reason they are called Rice Bowl 1 is because you go there one time and you are done. The chicken noodle soup had zero taste, the noodles were soggy and the few pieces of chicken were about as bland as it gets and had a consistency of rubber. The fried dumplings were soaked in whatever sauce and not like any fried dumplings I had ever seen, they looked gross and tasted worse. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was basically tiny chicken pieces hidden in greasy inch thick dough. I tried the Sesame Chicken, not sure when it was made but it tastes like it was hours ago and every piece was hard like fried wood chips. The plain fried rice and lo mein were totally tasteless, the were both beyond plain. The last dish we tried was the Hibachi Chicken, the dish was swimming in sauce, the chicken was tough, rubbery and not fresh. This was not a cheap dinner and the food was complete crap, I have been to 80 to 100 Asian restaurants and this was by far the worst food i was ever served. I doubt the people working there know how to cook, this was a disaster. For dessert we tried the Donuts, the were not fresh, not sure if the were made 7 hours or 7 days ago. I'm so disappointed in this place. Warning for all go anywhere else it will be better. All portions were large but what does that help if the food is terrible. Maybe they need to focus on quality instead of quantity. The only good thing about the food was the fortune cookies, they were fresh and were made in Stone Mountain, GA, not in Denver, NC. When we walked in the restaurant and we were not greeted, it was freezing in the restaurant, and this is when it was 30° outside. My 10-year-old son asked if she could turn the heat on, and her reply was it’s already on as she walked away. We had to seat ourselves, and no one gave us menus. I had to get up and retrieve our menus for myself. When they finally came to ask what we would like, two out of our party of five ordered dishes that had chicken in them. The chicken was clearly rotten, we both had one bite and told them we would not eat it. Rather than apologizing, she basically yelled at us and said this is the same chicken everyone else is eating. She walked away and did not even offer us any other food, not that I would’ve taken it. The other three people in our party said their food was OK, however, one of those three people only received four shrimp on her entire entrée. My daughter and I had dinner at the rice bowl 1 on a Sunday afternoon. I must say the place was dead. Only three teens having dinner when we arrived. In the time we were there 3 others came in for take out orders. Once we recieved our orders I quickly realized why they did not have much business. The food was under cooked, bad quality, portions were small, and plates/ silverware were dirty. To top it all off the tea was really bad. After receiving my meal we start taking note of the facilities. It could use a little fixing up. As for the service there were several times the lady be hind the counter would yell out asking if we needed more to drink. When I needed more she would have me bring my glass to her for a refill. On the up side they had a great sanitation score.
