My Husband and I had not been to Corpus Christi in many years. Our Daughter was temporarily assigned here by her company so we came to visit. There are not many choices for dinner so we came here. From the reviews we were looking forward to a great experience. My Husband had the red fish. He said the fish was “excellent and seasoned well.” I had the Coconut Shrimp after first trying to get the Braised Beef and being told “we don’t actually have that anymore”. Odd. When we were given menus we were not told of any modifications to the menu before our waitress left. The very first thing I noticed when we received our plates was the portion size. I took a photo but for some reason I cannot post here. I received 6 shrimp about the size of a half dollar coated in panko- like breading with some coconut in it. The “sauce” they provided was supposed to be a “pina colada flavor”. It actually tasted as if someone went behind the bar to their pina colada mix and poured it into a small service dish. The shrimp was cooked but lacked any flavor. The worst part? Both our plates had the “Vegetable of the day” which was canned green beans which had obviously been simmering in a pan with cut purple onion all day. The beans were shriveled and lacked any flavor. And, our “second” vegetable was a rice medley straight out of a box. Each of our meals were $21.00. I have eaten all over the country and cook a lot at home. I could not believe the plate in front of me. When you look at the restaurant online you get a tropical feel so we were excited to experience it. Unfortunately, the restaurant is landlocked nowhere near water. The entire area was sadly as underwhelming as the food. We were starving so ordered their famous “Irish Nachos”. We received a huge plate full of cut lettuce with red beans, pulled pork and some kind of sauce to give it heat. All on a bed of potato chips, which is where they got the name “Irish Nachos”. They charge $11.50 for this appetizer and $8.00 for a watered down margarita. I’ve had better meals at a Chili’s restaurant for half the price. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. We left after an appetizer, 2 margaritas and 2 entrees for $85.00. It’s really frustrating to patrons for restaurant owners to falsely advertise their food as “fresh” when it so clearly is not....
Read moreI took my family to this place and this restaurant wasnt great at all. First of all the food was mediocre and bland. When we arrived we were offered a drink menu. At the time I passed on a drink but decided to get one later on. Happy hour is from 4 to 7. It was 5:30. The menu said margaritas were $5 dollars each. I told the waitress that was a great price. $5 dollars. I ordered 2. When I got my receipt at 6:30pm upon leaving the receipt said each drink was $6.75. I asked why the 1.75 difference on each drink and I was told it was cause I did not sit at the bar. Apparently the bar gets a different price then the dining area. Given that this information was never told to me nor my wife and would not be an option for me given that I had our toddler with me.. that really annoyed me. Not good business practice. What's worse is the conversation I had prior with the waitress about them being only 5 dollars. I will never be back given that the food sucked. All 3 plates and appetizer I ordered. None of us finished our plates. I paid over 60 dollars for the worst food i have ever had. I love to try great food places but I would never call this place good by any means. Pasta for my toddler was disgusting and my wife's plate was terrible. They boxed it for us and when we got back to our condo we threw it away cause it was...
Read moreI HATE saying negative things about a place when the people working there are so lovely! We arrived at a time when several other parties had been sat so I completely understand why the service side was lacking. They were struggling to keep up with everyone which is absolutely understandable, and they did so with smiles on their faces. The food, well, I AM SO SORRY, but it was not even close to eatable. The bacon wrapped poppers had something I can't even begin to describe what bacon should look, smell, feel, or taste like wrapped around them. It was a grey color, hard, and by the looks of it, older than I bare to guess. The cream cheese that oozed out was pure grease mixed with a white substance. The shrimp old and hard. I ordered a watermelon margarita, and there was nothing in the drink that even resembled a flavor, much less one of fruit. The entree was a chicken ceasar salad. The salad was wilted, smelled odd, and again the chicken was very obviously old and reheated. The servers and staff were extremely pleasant and so apologetic about every situation. Unfortunately, I would never ever return for a meal; however, I absolutely would come back to sit at the bar and drink bottled beer because, again, the staff is genuinely friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. Just don't...
