I am so glad this establishment is here and open. Let's start with the food: fresh, hot, and amazing! My wife and young daughter shared the Nieces Bay plate featuring the locally sourced flounder. My daughter exclaimed 'YUM' at the very first bite. I had the Lemon chicken since Im not a seafood guy: it was fantastic....you could REALLY taste the lemon flavoring in the caper sauce....not every place pulls that off so well. My youngest daughter had the kids hamburger, and although the edges of the burger were burned, she finished it all off. The atmosphere is great. There are old photographs of the island and Corpus Christi hanging everywhere, along with some vintage ads of the place this used to be in the 70s: Jitto's surf I believe. Our server was Pete and he took the time to talk about our food, the menu and gave us some history of the place and some of the faces that are on the wall and pictures. One wall has famous actors and actresses and musicians and photos, he pointed out Farrah Fawcett's high school picture of when she was here in Corpus. The island needed a restaurant like captains! I wish them much success, and no they will do well because the food, the service, the atmosphere are really good. My family of four shared the chocolate eruption desert, that I believe it's called, and it was plenty enough for four of us. We actually left some on the plate.

We showed up after a group of large tables had come and gone and the poor staff was slammed. They had even run out of soup and mashed potatoes. But they soldiered on and we got great service and excellent food. We had to wait a bit for a table, but the bar was open and we just grabbed some drinks. The wait wasn't even as long as they said it might be, so that was a bonus. We found out they were running the kitchen with limited staff because they weren't expecting the giant tables to come in and they still got us food that was excellently prepared, served hot, and very tasty. The shrimp and crab salad, the flounder po' boy and the coconut shrimp with a side salad and onion straws were all really good according to those who ordered them. We grabbed a piece of carrot cake to go and really enjoyed that treat later in the evening. This place isn't fancy, but they have a friendly crew, good cooks and excellent, tasty food. Try it, I bet you'll like it!

Very disappointing. Dinner started off well with the calamari appetizer (they were out of crabcakes at 5:30 on Friday) but just gradually went downhill from there. I ordered the Nueces Bay (fried flounder) and the fish was overcooked and covered in a bland white sauce along with 3 past their 'best by date' shrimp. If there was crab meat there I couldn't find it. I asked for "everything" on the baked potato which apparently means bacon and cheese but no butter or sour cream. My wife ordered the Seafood Platter which was a plate of super overcooked fish and a crab shell stuffed with spiced bread crumbs. I guess we should've known better than to order seafood when we asked the waitress for her recommendations and she said the philly cheesesteak, gyro or a chicken salad. By the end of dinner the restaurant was so hot it was really uncomfortable. Probably my last visit for a while.

I hurt myself here. Everything and I mean everything was delicious. I had steak and grilled shrimp,Mashed potatoes, fried calamari, gumbo (lots of shrimp in it), Caesar salad and carrot cake. My husband had the seafood platter with a baked potatoe which is a deliciousselection of fried goodness. Portion sizes were large enough to satisfy the appetite of anyone coming from the beach. Come hungry. Service was immaculate, glasses kept full, menue knowledge, even timed the food to come out as we finished the appatizer and then later the dessert. Restaurant was clean and seating is comfortable but not crowded. I will be returning tomorrow for breakfast before I wander home. So good.

-edit- We came back for breakfast and do not regret it!! Sadly they did not have the waffles but the blueberry pancakes were just as delicious and my husband's caption omelet and hashbrowns so good! Coffee was smooth and ground fresh. Service...
