If you want an honest review, here it is. This place is an all you can eat hot pot and Korean bbq style restaurant. Options are endless with a slight difference between their lunch and dinner menus. Dinner offers a larger selection while lunch still has core features. Regardless of what you decide to go with, both include access to a massive appetizer bar, with everything from wings to shrimp tempura to gyoza to freshly sliced fruit. Also included is a sauce bar where you can mix and match to your hearts desire with a staggering amount of ingredients to choose from. Finally is the Sushi Bar. Stocked with multiple different varieties of rolls that look straight out of some of the nicest sushi spots I’ve been to. Veggies are also self serve at the veggie cooler and look as though they’ve been freshly harvested. As for the grill side of things, great selection and not only did food come out quickly but looked as though it was carved masterfully by a true chef. Same goes for the hot pot, easily the best tonkotsu broth I’ve ever had. Regarding the service, our server was Peter and he should teach a master class. Not only was his cheerful demeanor and enthusiasm towards the menu what got us truly excited for what we were about to experience but one of the number one reasons we will be returning and asking only for him. Overall, this restaurant is leaps and bounds above others here in Corpus and has become my new favorite spot. Prices are more than fair, service is immaculate and food is delicious. What more could you...
Read moreEdit: tried again during lunch and was charged dinner price; server was visibly not in a good mood so i didn’t want to say anything and just paid it (which i now regret). the ceiling was dripping and it was getting into my soup so i ended up moving my pot to another burner on the table. server barely checked on us (maybe twice the entire time) when it was pretty slow and the meat portion were laughably small, so we barely ate. left an all you can eat restaurant hungry and thirsty. i was really excited for this place so i really want to like it, but my experiences have been a bit ridiculous.
Seems like they’re just throwing in wait staff without basic training. I had to ask multiple times for basics like scissors despite it being off-time (3-5pm), and when I would order, they wouldn’t know the items I was talking about even after pointing it out on the menu. I understand growing pains in the beginning, but at least let them learn basic Japanese items first (didn’t even know what gyoza was). Was also charged for hot pot and kbbq when my whole table only did hot pot, but I didn’t notice until after because my server just quickly placed down the check, checked us out, collected her tip, and then walked away without saying a single word the whole time despite us remaining polite and patient, which left a really bad final impression on me. Three stars only because the assistant manager seemed much more friendly, but she was preoccupied and we didn’t want to be a bother so...
Read moreTried out JPot recently… honestly, not impressed. If you’re deciding between this and the other Korean BBQ place in town (starts with Bo), the other place still holds the win by a long shot.
We waited over 30 minutes, only to watch similar-sized groups get seated ahead of us despite us booking online as required. When we were finally taken to a table, it wasn’t even cleaned properly. Service was slow—drinks took about 10–15 minutes, and the meat took nearly 20. Portions were small, and our server only checked on us three times the entire meal.
Surprisingly, the side dishes were better than the meat itself, but together they made zero sense. It felt like someone put together an Asian buffet restaurant and threw in some meat as an afterthought. The overall flow of how you collect the food items and experience just felt off - we had to special order steamed rice from the server!! Like seriously? 😂
There is NO ventilation over the grill/burner to draw away the smoke or fumes so it was very smoky inside the building - and there was almost no airflow where we were seated. Proper ventilation is something I used to take for granted at the other Korean BBQ place on Airline - not anymore!
For us, JPot was a 2 out of 5. Not worth the drive or the price, unfortunately. I had...
