The rating is based on the substance of the food ordered. We had the fried shrimp platter, chatter jack shrimp, fried okra and hush puppies. Our long day at the beach created a big hunger and we finished our food primarily due to that rather than good taste. The fried okra had little to no taste to it, with majority of it left uneaten. The hush puppies were OK and seemed only acceptable if dipped in tartar sauce (what the heck?!). The chatter shrimp was decent, but the shrimp were oddly hard. If eaten while it is hot, it can be a acceptable selection, but there is nothing special about it. It definitely had flavor, but you can likely find it at a chinese takeout or restaurant as a sweet & sour shrimp dish. Nothing glamorous. And that was the same w/the fried shrimp platter. Shrimp seemed large, but that was mostly due to the batter, and there was nothing fancy to them. A lot of dipping involved to give it taste. Overall, the taste of dinner was greatly lacking and disappointing. We had been here back in 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed it to the point of returning three times during that vacation. This time around we were lucky to get through our dinner stop, and definitely won't be in a rush to return. The restaurant is very warm with not many fans to help in cooling patrons. The view of the water is always pleasant and the counter help was nice, but it all kind of ends there. This is one of those spots that is sadly visited due to previous popularity, but I don't think it offers out of towners a run for their money. There isn't anything special about Snoopy's food and if anything -- save your money and spend it on ice cream from next door and still enjoy the view .... that's...
Read moreThis place has a beautiful sunset location on the bay. This is a order when you walk in place with the menu above the cashier. You can sit inside in the AC or outside along the bay under a canopy. It’s a very cool sunset location where you can enjoy the fresh bay air and enjoy the calm evening weather.
Our orders didn’t take long at all to receive. When ready your name is announced over the speakers and you pick it up at the window. Our food was cooked right, my daughter ordered the boiled shrimp which I found very good and cooked to perfection.
I ordered the fried oyster plate which comes with coleslaw and fries. Now I don’t care for fried seafood so keep that in mind when I say I didn’t care for the oysters. I want seafood that isn’t fried and this place fries most of its seafood. The food was cooked well. The coleslaw no one at our table cared for at all. It was just whatever coleslaw is made of without the dressing. Kinda like eating weeds and earthy tasting. My wife’s shrimp plate I thought was good and she loved the hush puppies. Mom and dad shared a fish plate. The fish was fried cod. Why not a local fish instead?
I wish I had ordered the burger, I saw one at another table and it looked amazing.
Overall the food was a 2 for what you get with taste and price. Service was great and food came out fast. Atmosphere is definitely what you pay for here and it is a neat place to visit. Would I come back? I’d like a try at the burger...
Read moreThe service was fast but the person that took our order was not very pleasant. She wasn’t rude but not very warm. The busboy was rude. He was staring at me and when I smiled and nodded at him, he didn’t bother to respond or break a smile. He just stared at me uncomfortably. Very strange. The combo plate (full) was not what we expected. My wife’s oysters were burnt crispy. Mine were not bad but one of them was the size of the tip of my pinky. Not the biggest by any stretch. The shrimp were great. Good breading and cooked well. No complaints. The fish were... well... very disappointing. They were fried like nuggets and were mostly all breading; and small. Very unfulfilling. The ambiance was great because it’s right on the water. It’s a cozy place but the staff could make it more welcoming if they tried harder. The t-shirts are a bit over priced. Adult sized - $24.99. I will say that the young lady working at the gift shop was very friendly, helpful and was a pleasure to speak with. I don’t remember her name but she is from Arizona and is about to graduate from Texas A&M CC. She was the best part of our visit there. So kind and friendly. I had heard a lot about this place over the years and was really looking forward to visiting but was ultimately disappointed. It appears they are relying on their past to make it through the future. How very...
