Bottom line: absolutely terrible service at this restaurant. The waiters are aloof and unhelpful (I'll stop short of saying rude, but definitely not friendly). I ordered a breakfast "special" which came with scrambled eggs; I asked for them over medium and the waiter said they'd make a "one time exception." Seriously, how hard is it to prepare the eggs over medium versus scrambled? Extra training required for the chef? I also had to ask for a coffee refill multiple times as the waiter never stopped at the table to check how the food was, or if there was anything I needed (you know, the level of service like you get at Denny's or IHOP). I got up to go to the restroom, and told my waiter I'd be back shortly. When I came back, they had cleared my table and had given it to another patron. Half of my breakfast was still on my plate. I went to the host and let him know I had told the waiter I'd be back, and he said "oh, he didn't tell the other waiter and he cleared your table." (They did realize their mistake before I returned and had put out coffee and toast at another table.) Finally, when the bill came, I waited a good 20 minutes for the waiter to come by to get it before I finally just took the check inside to pay. This restaurant is inside the Ayres Hotel Costa Mesa, where I stay pretty often and is a nice hotel. This is my second visit to this restaurant due to being in the hotel (the first visit was also not great, but not this bad), but this will be my last. I will also be advising other members of my company to avoid it. I'm rating the restaurant at two stars because the food was passable and the...
Read moreTitle: Charming Breakfast Experience at Le Chateau Garden Bistro
Le Chateau Garden Bistro is truly a gem, nestled in a picturesque setting that feels like a serene escape. The lush flowers and cascading water fixture in the middle of the outdoor patio create a tranquil atmosphere that is perfect for a relaxing breakfast.
We were fortunate to visit on a morning with perfect weather, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable. The peaceful ambiance was occasionally interrupted by aircraft traveling overhead due to the nearby airport, which caused us to pause our conversation several times. However, this minor inconvenience didn’t detract much from the overall charm of the location.
I started my meal with a berry smoothie, which was a great refresher. While I found it needed a bit more sweetness and felt slightly "dry," it was still a decent start to the day. On the other hand, the eggs Benedict was an absolute delight. The perfectly poached eggs, creamy hollandaise sauce, and fresh ingredients made it a standout dish that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Le Chateau Garden Bistro is a place I could see myself returning to frequently for breakfast. The combination of the beautiful setting, delicious food, and the peaceful morning vibe makes it a perfect spot to start the day on a high note. Despite the occasional aircraft noise, the experience was delightful, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a charming...
Read moreCame here for Mother's Day brunch buffet, which I'm told is a rarity here (they only offer it twice a year--the other is Easter Sunday), so I cannot comment on the regular lunch and dinner menu/experience. The French restaurant is located in the Ayres Hotel, designed like a French cottage, just past a very French courtyard, complete with water fountain, potted flowers, bistro tables, the whole nine yards. It's actually a very cute place, which was perfect for Mother's Day. The food selection was excellent and the service was prompt. The reason I knocked it down one star is because the brunch costs $55 per person and I don't think you're getting a good value there. Don't get me wrong, they have lamb chops, poke, French macarons, prime rib, etc. And granted it's a holiday and that comes with holiday pricing, but at that price, there still ought to be a better value. I'll definitely come back on a non holiday though. Seems like a...
