This review is already posted on Yelp, but I wanted to share it here too:
This place offers a solid (hot or cold) vanilla latte. I usually order mine with oat milk. But my absolute favorite drink here is the The Nook Way. It's a cold brew with chicory, hazelnut syrup, and oat milk. I feel it's a nailed perfection of flavors.
I did try the iced Spanish latte, but it wasn't for me. The cinnamon was too overpowering in the drink that it eclipsed the other flavors. I do believe there's an option to tell them to leave out the cinnamon though.
Service is hit or miss in terms of friendliness. I have encountered welcoming and cheery vibes about 50% of the time. I think the gentleman with the baseball cap is usually friendly, as is the other gentleman with longer, slightly wavy hair. But the shop is always lightening fast at making drinks compared to other coffee shops, so I won't nitpick too much on friendly service.
Space: it's small, so don't expect to sit here for conversations with friends, or to study. There are some limited seats inside, but it's more for waiting for your order.
I am also sad they disabled the ability to do online orders or to call in to place a phone order. I'm guessing the traffic for the small space of their shop could be why they're no longer doing online orders because the online ordered drinks could just overtake the counter space.
Parking here can be a pain in the butt, so I've yet to figure out a secret to getting parking. I solely go for coffee in this plaza and wished there was a spot for 10 minute parking to get in and out.
Overall, I appreciate the quality drinks at Nook and find myself coming back several...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came here from a recommendation from the fellow yelper I met at one of the elite events. She recommended me trying specifically this matcha place and I'm glad I did. It's in the same area as the lab or hipster area of Costa mesa. The business is very small and they have a curated selection of pastries and Decor that you can buy. Workers are very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. I happen to ask for their recommendations and it seemed like it matched what my fellow yelper recommended. I did happen to get the island matcha and the coconut matcha and I would say they're pretty similar. I did like the coconut matcha better because the island matcha had a little bit too much going on. I was surprised that I liked these flavored matcha drinks and it wasn't too sweet and the flavors weren't overpowering each other. I would say I would go out of my way if I was in the area to go get this again or hopefully I would want to try one of their other drinks. It was a good pick me up and pleasant surprise to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to Nook Coffee a few times now, and it is quickly becoming a go-to spot for me. I have tried both the Spanish Latte and the Strawberry Matcha, and both drinks have their unique charm. The Strawberry Matcha was so good. The balance between the matcha and strawberry was perfect, not too sweet but still smooth and refreshing. Definitely one of the better versions I have had. The Spanish Latte caught me by surprise. It had a bit of a bitter kick at first, but the cinnamon flavor with each sip grew on me and added a nice depth to the drink. Overall, I enjoy this spot and will keep coming back to try more. If you are looking for a solid coffee shop with some great drink options, I would recommend checking it out! Staff is always super sweet and there is a line out the door each time - but they are pretty quick to get the order rollin'!...
