@restauranthabana is SO pretty, has amazing brunch, and is doing easter brunch! 708 Spectrum Center Dr Suite 708 (also there is a @thelabantimall location in Costa Mesa) They have brunch on the weekends, but for Easter, they are doing: - Easter Brunch from 11:00am-4:00pm - Complimentary Photobooth - 3 course Prix-Fixe Brunch menu priced at $65.00 per person. - A la Carte Dinner from 4:00pm-9:00pm We tried their easter ham and lamb, and they’re pretty off the charts with their signature sauces and just ridiculous tenderness. If you don’t have easter plans yet…this is your answer. They accommodate large parties with ease, for those who often ask where to go for large parties. As for their regular, non-easter brunch - they have a habana French toast that my entire party lost their mind about. Probably the best french toast I’ve tried in Orange County in a while. It’s $24, filled with guava cream cheese, fresh fruit, and Caribbean sweet chili. My favorite remains the short rib picadillo hash. Braised short rib just cannot be beat (team savory over here). Tried their shrimp empanadas for the first time too. Excellent. Also we tried about 1,000 drinks and they were all delicious, lol. My coconut water coconut was adorable. Have you tried this spot out yet? I am honestly impressed by their brunch. . . . #costamesa #irvine #cuban #cubanfood #brunch #easter #wheretogo #cheers #thingstodo #lamb #datenight #patio #wheretoeat #largeparties

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Habana Restaurant. I made a reservation for our 2-year anniversary with my girlfriend via Open Table for Saturday 4/13/24 at 5:45 PM, it turned out to be raining that day so I called Habana in the morning to see if they could still accommodate me, they were very polite and said that they could. Parking was a bit tricky but luckily, we found a spot. (I recommend getting there with time to spare before your reservation so you can secure a parking spot.) Upon arrival they were very friendly, and after stating my name they congratulated us with a “Happy Anniversary.” We were seated almost immediately and got a good table; the hostess gave us the option to switch to another table if we wanted to but that wasn’t necessary. There was a heater adjacent to our table so both my girlfriend and I were warm. We were by an entrance, so I was getting some wind drag, however, I was layered up and had the heater, so I didn’t feel it much. Shortly after our waiter arrived at our table, Gavin, and took great care of us. We were given a beautiful note card congratulating us on our anniversary, and they put rose petals on our table and even offered us complimentary Rose Champagne which I thought was very nice! Very romantic setting. Service was impeccable and our food came out almost immediately. The food was delicious and had an amazing flavor. My girlfriend had Ropa Vieja and I had a Kobe burger, we both enjoyed it very much. The Kobe burger came with Caribbean fries and two sauces that complemented the meal perfectly. To top it all off the restaurant is stunning, from the entrance with the CDs to the restaurant itself, very rustic and aesthetically pleasing. I love this place and will be returning. 5 stars and I highly recommend it.

I'll start with the good. The ambiance was wonderful. Cozy, inviting and different than pretty much anywhere in Costa Mesa. The chairs were comfortable as well. The fries were hot and crispy. Now for the reasons that I'm giving this place 2 stars. We ordered the kobe burger medium and it came out medium rare. Not the end of the world. The menu described that there would be chipotle and tomatillo sauce. I found that to be false. Also, there was a red onion wheel on the burger that was the same thickness as the burger. It was the only thing I could taste before I removed a large amount of it so I could taste the $22 dollar undercooked burger served on a stale brioche bun. A word to the wise, if you're going to charge that much for a burger, everything on the plate should be intentional, on point and above all else, flavorful. I'm sure the bun would have been soft and delicious if I ordered the burger on Friday when it was delivered, but alas, here we are on Sunday clearing out the "good enough" section of their pantry. I digress. The banana ketchup they served with the fries was weird. I would have asked for normal ketchup if the server had come to check on us. IF the server had come to check on us. My date ordered a $5 dollar diet coke and didn't receive a refill. The server was probably from the same section of the pantry as the stale brioche bun. Upon being seated by the very friendly host, he "greeted" us with, "are you ready to order?" No suggestions, introductions, recommendations or even eye contact. Sad. We were ready to pay and end the complete and utter lack of an experience for at least 5 minutes while we watched our server stand in front of the POS screen probably entering in his credit card tips before we saw another server walk by and hand him the card. The only reason this place is getting 2 stars is because of the friendly hosts and hot, crispy fries. I've been here on a few other occasions and have always had a good experience here hence why I came back with someone who had never been here before but, after tonight, I sadly won't be returning. There are several other options for unique experiences and great service at a very similar price point that my return business will cease to exist. Take care. Brush your hair.

4.5 AMBIANCE: I give the place 4.5 stars for the intimate date night, sultry mood it gives off. Perfect spot, if that's what you're looking for. Even better if you're into the whole cozy idea of a restaurant, for me that's where I docked them the 0.5. I'm not a big fan of the crammed up area and where you're practically within breathing distance from the next table over. Idk how people can get intimate with such close setting but the dim lights made up for it...I GUESS. 3/ 5 FOOD: Can't complain on the food here. It served good food. On this trip the food ordered was: SEAFOOD CEVICHE: awesome ceviche! bursting with fresh and just the right amount of citrus flavor and good big chunks of seafood...buuuut....their plantains were a bit on the stale side. I should say this, it was placed as garnishment, so maybe it was only meant to be a garnishment. not quite sure. Damn my tummy for thinking I could eat it all. ROPA VIEJA: i agree with all the reviews that have preceded me. the place is known for this dish, and for good reason. soft, tender, juicy, melt in your mouth pulled meat that screams heaven and kept it nice and simple with the white rice to let the meat truly sing and shine on its own, but again, i don't know if it was just that night, my plantain "garnishment" was stale. SKIRT STEAK "ESTILLO CHURASCO': to be honest, i expected more of this dish since it was one of the pricier DISHES. it was a bit on the sour side for my taste, and though tasty, not worth the $24. 2.5/5 SERVICE: Call me a harsh reviewer, but our server was on the SUPER uninterested side. Granted I'm not going to dinner to make friends with the servers, but come on...have a little smile. Don't act so smug and indifferent around us. She just gave me bad mojo, wish I could've had better service here. Then again, this spot is located at the "anti-mall" so I guess her too cool for life for attitude must've been warranted here. Overall, I wouldn't say the place was bad, but I wouldn't say the place was great either. It's a good one-timer place in my opinion. It left me with no reason to come again but no reason to complain about my meal either.

Habana, nestled discreetly inside the LAB mall in Costa Mesa, offers a tantalizing promise of authentic Cuban fare that has stirred quite a buzz within the Orange County community. Stepping through its doors, one is greeted with a fusion of warmth and nostalgia, heightened by the subtle aroma of spices and the inviting ambiance reminiscent of Havana's vibrant streets. On a leisurely Sunday brunch outing, we were graciously welcomed with a complimentary glass of champagne, setting the tone for what we hoped would be a memorable culinary journey. The option to dine either indoors, enveloped in the cozy, eclectic decor, or on the bright outdoor patio, offered a delightful choice for our dining experience. Our server, embodying the essence of hospitality, guided us through the menu with expertise and enthusiasm. However, despite our anticipation, the dishes we sampled, including the egg benedict, Ropa, beef short rib, and various brunch sets, failed to evoke the rich, bold flavors synonymous with traditional Cuban cuisine. While each plate was competently prepared, they lacked the distinctive spices and depth of flavor that define authentic Cuban fare. Nevertheless, the atmosphere inside Habana transports diners to another place and time, with its vibrant colors, lively music, and charming decor exuding an undeniable Cuban spirit. The melding of old-world charm and modern sensibilities creates a setting that invites patrons to linger and savor the moment, despite any culinary shortcomings. In summary, while Habana may not fully deliver on its promise of authentic Cuban flavors, its enchanting ambiance and warm hospitality make it a worthy destination for those seeking a taste of Havana in the heart of Orange County.

I will begin to say that the place itself it’s beautiful and has an elegant atmosphere inside and outside. The decorations, lighting and music were perfect. Staff dressed beautifully. It was our first time coming to this restaurant. We were really excited to come as we had seen videos of it. However, once we arrived with our reservation was at 7.30pm, and the beautiful receptionist took us to our table, things began to go downfall. We waited for 30 mins for our “server” to began to take our order. No one was showing up, but a different server passing by noticed we didn’t even have water neither the little table light on. Which then proceeded to apologize to us, when asked if we were help yet as to our response was a no. And then offered to take our drink order until our actual server came. As it seems like they had switched or changed. Once our actual server came things got somewhat better. My partner and I ordered the ropa vieja from the menu and the croquetas. Food itself was not rich in flavor. And for such high price. The presentation on the food was ok. But the rice came somewhat soggy, the meat has no texture or taste. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the croquetas. But for 130$ we paid in total for our two drinks, the ham croquetas and two ropa vieja. I felt it was overprice and not adequate for the taste and overall meal. Lastly, a few hours passing by. Me and my partner once home from being that our only big meal we had yesterday, food poisoning was our surprise. We both threw up the ropa vieja and every intake we had from there. So I am very dissatisfied and disappointed in the place.
