Never, ever in my life have I felt the need to write a review like this. This owner is by far the most rude, disrespectful individual I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. Just read her response to other customer's reviews, you can see how obnoxious she is. She only posts the POSITIVE reviews on her Facebook page, as she clearly outlines herself in the reviews (i know for a FACT some are fake, lol, her worker told me). She treats her staff like second-class citizens; I felt so badly for the nice gentleman that served us. A couple of months ago, my family was in Coudersport and we were absolutely famished. Somehow, we had forgotten who owned this place (we're still trying to figure out HOW we could forget the barreling, screeching voice of this owner) and decided to eat here. A nice younger gentleman greeted us at our table, and handed us menus. We noticed the advertisement on the front stated that they offered 10% off for Military Veteran's. I showed my Retired ID, as did the other three in our party. I persued the menu, but wasn't that hungry so I ordered the crabcakes. Someone else ordered chicken parmesan, and the final two split a margharita-style pizza. We also ordered a pizza dough to-go. Then we heard the unmistakable voice of the owner screaming like a banshee from the kitchen, and what sounded like a freight train that I can only imagine was someone throwing things. After about two minutes, we heard a male voice yelling, and then the owner bolted from the kitchen to the area by the cash register. She was still yelling and cursing like a sailor until the younger gentleman said something and motioned towards us. She looked up and said something like "Hello, welcome", but in a somewhat sarcastic tone. We decided to stay because we had already placed our order, and didn't want to just LEAVE since they had already begun cooking the food. I wish we would have. My "crab cakes" consisted of imitation crab legs (the long, skinny kind) that was cut into thirds or quarters, something that resembled stuffing, then breaded and very lightly pan-cooked. I took a very small bite and they tasted like the Alaskan Polluck was spoiled. I spit it out in my napkin. The chicken parmesean was mostly breading, rather thin, and greasy. The accompanying spaghetti resembled my elementary school lunches from the late 1980s, with fat, over-cooked noodles and bland, overly-thick pasta sauce. They don't offer pizza Margharita on the menu, but the gentleman that served us said that he could make it after we explained what typically consists of- olive oil over the dough, garlic, roma tomatoes usually cut horizontally, and weasked for a very LIGHT sprinkle of Mozzarella and Parmesean. What we received was dough covered in ALFREDO SAUCE, diced yellowish roma tomatoes, and HEAVY, HEAVY Mozzarella cheese, only. When he came by to check on us, he informed us that the owner told him how to "properly" make a pizza Margharita. It was terrible. We all ate about two bites of our food, and said we were ready for the check. The owner appeared, and asked us if we wanted to-go boxes, and we said no, and someone else kind of chuckled and said, "absolutely not". She immediately snapped at him and said, "What's that you said? Why not?" We said our food was not that good. She proceeded to begin to scream at US, and give us a lecture about how ALL of her customers LOVE each of these dishes, how to make them... it was insane. We sat there for about a minute while she unloaded on us, until we said we'd like to take the check and leave. I was up front paying at the register, and we heard her yelling about us in the kitchen, and she was saying something about how her family or friends were veterans and how she WISHED OUR PARTY WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR TAKEN AS POW's! Unbelievable. Never again. I know the owner is going to go ballistic after reading this, so I hope her employees are ducking. And yes, Ma'am, I know you collect stars, so you can keep...
Read moreLet me start by saying that my colleagues and I order frequently. The food is excellent and keeps us coming back, however the lack of a delivery driver is a large inconvenience because we cannot always leave to pick it up. The service is hit and miss; attitudes depending on the day, which can also be said about anybody. I dont eat in the restaurant very often but the last time I did we had slow but decent service, however I wasn't asked for a refill. With each job and each place of business comes with it's own obstacles, and with constantly updating systems and rotation through employees brings it's own problems that cannot be helped or avoided. However, mix-ups happen to occur often, whether its miscommunication or just lack of attention is unknown to me, but getting a small part of our order wrong every time is increasingly irritating, as it is becoming expected with each order we place. More often then not have we called during lunch time to get fried food and have been told the fryer is being cleaned, which is most likely a large loss of income during that time when it could be cleaned at a better time, i.e. on a weekend or at night or earlier in the day. My family and I have eaten at OIP for years and it has become a place of nostalgia. I have seen 3 or 4 owners come and go and the one thing that always stays the same is the pizza. Keep it that way. A piece of advice I would give, is to keep things ordered and in stock, and don't discontinue certain items people enjoy, i.e. CHICKEN FRIES! The constantly changing hours are confusing, and I'm sure it revolves more around being short staffed, but that's more of a loss of income and the last thing I want to see is OIP go out of business. I am aware that alot of these complaints are petty, however they are things that are expected from a restaurant, and business in general. Nobody is perfect, and I don't expect perfection. I want to see the love and passion in the restaurant that the owners I grew up with had. I dont expect fast food service, I expect professional waiting service. In conclusion, Coudersport is very small, and if you have the patience and want a good meal, go to OIP. People tend to respond to constructive criticism better than they respond to negative feedback. No matter how service is on some days, my colleagues and family and I still go back to OIP almost every week. I am open minded and hopeful for improvement and will continue to...
Read moreThis is our first time in this restaurant. Came into the restaurant at 5:00 pm. We were greeted about 5 minutes after sitting down, she gave us menus and said she would be back. She came back 5 minutes later, we told her we weren't quite sure what we wanted to eat yet, her response "Okay, I'll be in the kitchen then. I'll check on you in a little bit." She didn't offer drinks. Just left. I went to the counter at 5:20, wondering why a table would have to wait for service that long. Asked if she wanted me to come up front to order, her response "No. I'm working kitchen and waiting tables. That's what it is." And went back to the kitchen. She finally came at 5:28 to get our order. Still didn't ask if we would like drinks, I had to say "Well wait, let's tell her our drinks." She's moody, stressing, and not treating customers very well at all. We are trying to be patient and all smiles, but it's really hard when she's making this such an unpleasant experience. A table came in across from us, a guy got him a drink and took his order. Another table came in, waiting 5 minutes and only got eyeballs, they left. A new table just came in, they got their drinks. It is now 5:40 and we just got served drinks. She set them down and left as my kids were trying to say thank you. The phone keeps ringing off the wall, nobody is answering it. This is the 5th time the phone rang since we've been here that they just let it ring. I work in the restaurant business, I've been cooking and waiting tables for 9 years now. Ome of the biggest things you learn is proper customer service. She does not have it one bit. She shows her stress, does not smile, and makes a very bad experience. Might be irrelevant, but we came for our daughter's birthday dinner. Very sorry to say, but this is one of the very worst experiences I've had yet. Hope the food is good. Because so far, this was not worth the wait. Hope this...
