I was disappointed overall with my experience. They are well known in the Coventry area as a community fixture, having been in business many, many years. The reviews I read were mixed, but everyone has an opinion, so I decided to visit despite the reputation of high prices and a decline in quality. First off, parking was awkward. There's several off-street spaces, bit barely off-street. You have to be very careful backing out. Second, the place is pretty large, and has the feel of being in an old home that was converted. (I do, in fact, believe this is the case. The area that my son and I were seated in looked like a formerly-screened-in porch.) The wait staff was extremely kind and knowledgable of the menu options, of which there were many. Yes, their prices seemed kinda high to me, but I felt that if the quality was top-notch, it would be worth it. It was not. I have been in chain restaraunts that have better quality. To say that I was very disappointed would be an understatement. The only redeeming factor was the tomato sauce on my pasta dish. I know what home-made italian tastes like, having been partially raised in an Italian family, and the sauce at Rose Villa was LEGIT. Tasting it was like blasting back to my childhood. The rest of my meal left something to be desired, I'm sad to say. The cost was NOT worth good sauce. As ihad never had the privilege of dining here when reviews were consistently great, I can't compare them between then and now. I can only describe my experience. I'm giving them 3 stars because the food was 1 🌟, the service 5 🌟, and...
Read moreWent to lunch at the Rose Villa the other day. Haven't been there in awhile, and the only reason I went was my Mom wanted to go. We started out with some sauerkraut balls. They were cooked perfect. For our lunch we both ordered the Atlantic cod beer-battered fish. We both chose the salad and fries. The salad came out before the sauerkraut balls, which I was fine with. The salad bowl was ice cold, and you could tell that it had been sitting in a cooler for a day+. I picked out about 4 pieced of brown white pieces from the salad and the croutons were soft. Which I then picked them off my salad. The fish and fries were next. The fish was over cooked and flavorless. Then the fries. Could of been the worst fries I've recieved from a restaurant like this. If I was the person preparing them, I would of been EMBARRASSED, and the sever should have been EMBARRASSED as well to serve them! COLD FRIES from a fast food restaurant are better than what we recieved. They were hard, overcooked little crunchy pieces that you were an end of a bag, dark burnt brown. I told the waitress how awful they were, and she did say would you like a baked potato to go. I thought to my self, what am I going to do with a to go potato. I go out to lunch with my Mom once or twice a week, and this was by far the WORST meal we have had. I personally think the Rose Villa is over-rated. I normally take pictures and post, but I was in such a good conversation with my Mom that I already took food of the plate. Sorry Rose Villa, I doubt I'll be back, and still would never recommend...
Read moreThis is my second time at Rose Villa in the last month. I liked it many years ago but we moved to Medina County and just don't head that way much anymore. We went with friends in December and were so impressed with the quality, prices and great service. We decided to go back (just the two of us on NYE) and tried the couples dinner. The shrimp cocktail we split was perfect, great salad with white French dressing, we each had a 10 oz. filet and took home one for steak and eggs breakfast the next day. I had broccoli that was seasoned and tender without being mushy and husband had crispy home fries. We each also chose a lobster tail as part of the package choices and they did not taste like they had been frozen - pretty impressive for Akron, Ohio. We took home our desserts, which were part of the package. They had seasonal cocktails as well as a good selection of beer and other mixed drink options (the Cranberry Mule was great). Our waitress was attentive even though the place was jamming! We've agreed it's worth to to travel a little further more often for a nice dinner out - we will be back soon. Not "fine dining" atmosphere, but nice restaurant/bar vibe, not too noisy even when busy.
On a regular night, we could easily dine for two for under $50, especially without cocktails. NYE special was a splurge, but the same meal at Flemings, Diamond Grille, etc. would have been...
