Gelina’s Ice Cream — Restaurant in Coventry

So it’s usually pretty hard to mess up ice cream, there are places that are best in class, then there’s normal ice cream. Unfortunately there are just a handful of places that can manage to make ice cream unpleasant enough that I can’t recommend visiting them.

From small servings for normal prices to staff that take your order and go on break (but still remember to charge you). The wait was close to a half hour for a small ice cream cup and a shake, customer who came after us left with their ice cream before we got anything and perhaps worst of all my friends order was melting the whole time we waited.

Another couple actually left due to how long the line was (mind you most people were getting there orders but VERY slowly).

To top it off when they finally got to the order they forgot half of it so we had to wait a bit longer for that too.

It was my first time visiting and my family and I was were so very pleased with our experience. There were so many flavors to choose from that it was a bit overwhelming at first. However, owner Stamatis Karapatakis pointed a couple of their specialties and allowed us to custom create our own. I mentioned that I hadn't eaten a really good soft-serve ice cream in quite awhile and he simply stated 'ours is the Best'. I had a Coffee/Banana Swirl on a cone and it was amazing ! The service was very customer-centric.

If you are an ice cream lover you need to check this place out and I wish there was a way to connect this shop with the media (i.e. the Food Network). I will spread the word and definitely be back.

i normally don’t write reviews, however, i have diabetes and ordered the blackberry new berry ice cream so that my blood sugar would not run high, as i had no insulin in my car at the time. when i got my ice cream it tasted a little sweeter than usual, when i asked steve (the one IN CHARGE) if my order was correct he brushed me off and continued to reprimand one of the workers. Keep in mind that he was the one who messed up my order which is ironic considering he was yelling at one of the young teenage workers rather than focusing on his own work. Luckily, i was able to get home in time and get my insulin because i live in the area but if it was anybody else they could have been in severe trouble because of the ignorance of the manager. i’m extremely disappointed and will never be...
