Okay. First, before I begin... everything within the review is true and factual. I have pictures. This was my first visit, as well as my girlfriend's. It was her birthday, so I chose to bring her her here. We also invited another couple. We had high expectations of this place. My gf and I arrived approximately 10 minutes before our friends. The two of us were given a nice table to dine. Our waiter took our drink order, then came back a few minutes later to clarify our simple cocktail order. We both thought his question was strange...as if he must be new at waiting tables. No biggie. Our friends arrived a few minutes after our cocktails arrived. They too ordered cocktails. I ordered appetizers for our group that arrived fresh and hot. When we were brought small plates, (for the appetizers) my girlfriend discovered a old wet "Sweet n Low" packet stuck to the bottom of the plate! Obviously the plates were not properly cleaned. The weirdness was just beginning. The server passed food oddly. Instead of waking around the table to place plates, he reached over each of us...his arm coming close to my guest's faces. Again,, no biggie...right?We all had high hopes for what we expected to be awesome muffalletas. Everyone excluding me ordered the muffaltta combo that included a cup of Gumbo and potato salad. I ordered the lasagna that included a salad. Our meals arrived within a reasonable time. Again, the server reaching over the table; his extended arm inches away from my guest's faces. Without saying a word, we all gave that "look" to each other. My girlfriend offered me a taste of her Gumbo. It was really good! Apparently the muffalettas were not what what my guests expected. They all said they weren't anything to rave about...not bad. But not anything this place should be known for. I thought my lasagna was a far better choice than their choice. Then "it" happened. As we all continued to eat, and share good conversation...one of my guests sitting beside my girlfriend says to my girlfriend, "Look at your potato salad"! She looks down... and there it is!! Right beside the area where moments before she took a fork full of potato salad is a black curly hair. My girlfriend leans to me and whispers to me to inform me of the black curly hair in her food. (Yes, we took pictures.) I quietly waved for our waiter to come to us. He showed true "shock". He asks permission to remove the plate. Immediately, a woman arrives at our table, (who I assume is the manager...she didn't identify herself) She gave sincere apologies and nearly pleaded for them to replace the meal. My girlfriend was resistant, but then accepted the offer. By the time the new plate was returned to my girlfriend, we four were sort of grossed out. None of us could eat any more. The manager came back to ask if everything was okay, acceptable. We all responded with polite, but negative responses. The manager understood our sudden lack of appetite. The manager informed us the there would be no charge for our meals. But still be charged for our drinks. (We all had one drink each.) We obviously didn't finish our food, much less our drinks. Oh, we wouldn't be charged for the black curly hair either. Now, I get that were living in a post pandemic time, and good help may be hard to find. But this place isn't exactly a hole in the wall. This is supposed to be a "nice" place...not a white linen restaurant...but a nice place. What's sad is that it was my girlfriend's birthday. It was her plate that had the black curly hair! The waiter was obviously new at his job. The server was not trained on how to properly place plates. Yes, the manager didn't charge us for the meals. However, our dining experience was ruined. As I appreciate the manager understanding our feeling, she should have comp-ed the drinks too. And "maybe" offered an invitation for a meal in the future. I doubt we'll be back...ever. what a disappointment in what was supposed to be a good dining experience....

The street vendors who peddled their sandwhiches through Little Palermo may have fade away, but DiMartino's restaurant founder, Peter DiMartino, hailing from a family deeply rooted in the city's French Market, now carries on their legacy.

In 1975, he opened DiMartino's, a restaurant with a menu highlighting hearty Muffulettas and Poor Boy sandwiches.

DiMartino's quickly became a success, and today, with three fast-casual locations on the Westbank and a full-service concept in Covington, it continues to honor generations of quality food and service.

Welcome to Di Martino’s Famous New Orleans Muffulettas’ Covington location, where culinary delights await in both their charming dining room and for those on the go.

I recently indulged in their renowned muffuletta and a tantalizing cannoli, placing my order with their attentive and courteous staff.

True to their word, my meal was ready in a swift fifteen minutes.

While waiting, I admired their inviting bar, perfect for solo diners or those awaiting takeout.

Now let’s Indulge in the culinary delight that is Di Martino's Famous Muffuletta, a true masterpiece waiting to be unwrapped.

As you unveil this culinary treasure, you'll be struck by its generous proportions, perfect for sharing over a leisurely lunch for two or as a hearty solo dinner.

But what truly steals the spotlight is the olive salad, the undisputed rock star of this creation.

A symphony of flavors and textures awaits as you bite into rough-cut olives, crisp carrots, vibrant bell peppers, and delicate cauliflower, all harmonizing to create a medley of taste sensations.

The larger-than-usual pieces of these ingredients add a satisfying crunch, elevating each bite to new heights.

Between the layers of cheese and cold cuts lies a symphony of flavors, carefully curated to deliver a homemade taste that speaks volumes of the quality ingredients used.

Every bite is a journey through layers of savory goodness, each ingredient perfectly complementing the next.

In every aspect, Di Martino's Famous Muffuletta is a culinary triumph, a testament to the artiestry and dedication of its creators.

From its impressive size to its impeccable flavor profile, it's a gastronomic experience not to be missed.

Treat yourself to this delightful masterpiece and prepare to be transported to a realm of culinary bliss.

cannolis are a beloved pastry with roots tracing back to Sicily during the Arab rule in the 9th to 11th centuries.

These irresistible treats boast fried pastry dough shells, filled with a luscious ricotta-based cream, embodying the essence of Sicilian cuisine.

Legend has it that concubines of Sicilian princes crafted these desserts to captivate their attention, infusing them with exotic flavors like candied fruits, pistachios, and cinnamon, under Arab culinary influence.

The name "cannoli" itself may derive from the Arabic word for tubes, in homage to their distinctive shape.

Di Martino’s Famous New Orleans Muffulettas makes a very fine cannoli.

With hardworking staff, delectable fare, and a welcoming ambiance, Di Martino’s is a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts in Covington. It's evident that attention to detail is paramount here, creating an atmosphere where patrons can truly unwind and enjoy the company of good folks while savoring...

My wife and I decided to give this place a try since we didn’t want to do a lot of driving to go somewhere for lunch.

It’s bad when you arrived and were seated before everyone around you.

It’s bad when the waitress basically tells that the reason your order is taking so long is that a $300 to-go order is more important than your order. Mind you, we only ordered a steak and potato and a chicken club sandwich. Wouldn’t you serve the people who are present in your establishment first so they are not waiting long for their food.

It’s bad when you sit there and watch everyone’s order come out of the kitchen that was seated after you. Why does my order have to be the least important one in the entire establishment?

It’s bad you sit there for well over an hour and your food still doesn’t arrive.

It bad when the waitress tells you if she were you, she would get up and leave. I commend her for keeping it together for as long as she could.

The sad part is we were the only BLACK couple in the establishment, so what does it look like to you? If you didn’t want to serve us just say so. Our money is just as green as the...

Take out 1st experience: We shared a roastbeef muffalotta. The bread was toasted, made it a lil crispy and it was delicious. Large order of fries was def. enough for two as well. Messy and yummy. We will be back to try the dine in experience. Update Nov 2022 we've been back several times. All of the dishes we've tried have been so delicious. Service is great, they are all very nice and the place is really neat. Added some more dishes we've had. Dined in a few times now. Their fried mushrooms are so light and yummy. The shrimp and broccoli Alfredo is the BEST of all the places we've ever had that dish. The shrimp is so good. Family members had the regular muffalotta and they will be back. Poboys, gumbo, potato salad, their house and ceasar salads are all favs too.
