If I was reviewing this place a week ago, I would have given it 4 stars. This was, until tonight, one of our weekly go to places. We have tried all different times and days and we always had good experience. The service is decent, I say decent because they have forgotten a few things before like a few appetizers we ordered that never came, a roll here and there or the side of spicy mayo but the staff has always been nice and pleasant so no big complaints. That is until tonight. It’s a Monday night so it was not super busy, they were closed yesterday so everything should be fresh to start the week, we ordered our usual, a cooked appetizer and 3 rolls to share. We have always liked the dancing shrimp roll which we got tonight. However tonight the roll was horrible, it was spoiled, as in not safe to eat, the shrimp crab combo was rotten. I am not sure if anyone else has ever had food poisoning, but you usually know exactly what caused it. The shrimp – crab mix that has an orange sauce was not good or safe for human consumption. It smelled off and it tasted way off, it was even worse the second time on the way out if you know what I mean.
I told the server what happened she took the roll off the bill and took away the two rolls we had not eaten then proceeded to bring us a check for our appetizer and drinks. I was shocked, it was so nonchalant and they had the nerve to hand us a bill after they just gave us spoiled food and acted as if it was not an issue. The owner wasn’t there, there was no manager but the senior server – hostess came over and I told her what happened, she said she knew we ordered the same thing each time so we would know if it wasn’t right. I asked if the owner was there or at least a manager because I was worried about the other customers. She advised that she was in charge and the owner nor a manger was there. I emphasized to her that I needed to leave because I felt sick, and they needed to pull the shrimp-crab mix and check the other items in the roll because people might get sick.
I called the other location on HWY22 to try and reach the owner, I spoke with a manager who simply stated the owner was not at that location so deal with the HWY21 location even though there was no manager there. I’m reporting this to the food poisoning website and won’t be going back. This was my favorite sushi spot but not anymore. They should have taken accountability. I hope they pulled the item and no one...
Read moreId like to start with saying that their sushi is very good and I went back specifically for the Red Dragon roll. This review is because of the last experience my girlfriend and I had at the restaurant. We ordered the Red Dragon roll and a Teriyaki Beef dinner. The sushi was great but the beef came out mostly raw! Not rare but Blue Raw...The hard thing here is several waitresses/ workers come by your table so you don't know who your server is. I had to flag someone to show them the raw beef. They immediately took the plate back but didn't say anything to a manager or anyone because we had the item on the bill. I had to ask another worker to speak to a manager about this issue and she sent another person who didn't even look at us. She stared directly at the end of the table and practically told us it was our fault. This persons responses to all of this was very unprofessional. Her initial response was "our sushi rolls are mostly all raw". The complaint was not about the sushi but about the HOT DINNER. So we explained it again to her and her next response was "we cant keep taking things off of bills" (mind you, I've only ever been here twice and never complained before. Previous bill being over $80) Pretty offensive in my opinion and this should never be told to a customer. She continued with "you should have mentioned how you wanted your beef cooked". Note that this question was never asked when we were ordering so we did not know that we should have to do that. I doubt we will ever return to this restaurant or at least this location and we were very disappointed that their staff handled their own mistakes that way and tried setting the blame to the customer. If I were to go out with a larger group I would argue that we go...
Read moreAs far as u can tell the newer sister restaurant to the megumi in Mandeville.
I originally went to Mandeville as a coworkers recommendation was they perfer the Mandeville location. I agree with this assessment. The Mandeville location is a bit more.... Homely in feel and service tho there's ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with Covington It just feels more modern vs Mandevilles more traditional approach.
They have most of the same things the Mandeville location has but they seem to have a few different variants of ramen like the cowboy ramen (*depicted) and unknown if this is a menu oversight or just a location difference.
Still amazing sushi even tho I started eating rolls which my favorite was the megumi two roll *highly recommended. I have evolved to more traditional Japanese feel and only eat nigiri sushi now.
Staff is still Uber friendly and helpful. Everything's neatly presented and taste awesome. I did notice some of the dishes like megumi two have a bit different presentation and look between the locations. But this is also seen in Pink Agave location where in the menu it states different chefs have different personalities which is why the variation.
Unlike the Mandeville location however this location has more tvs to watch sports or something in the meantime and an outdoor service Area to eat.
100% recommended to stop at either locations as I do believe the best sushi and 2nd best ramen spots are at the Two megumi locations.... *yes I believe the sushi here is...
