đŤ Community Alert: Johnnyâs Pizza in Covington, GA đŤ
So I decided to give this place a try one more time after my first experience 10months which I gave a review concerning also. This past Tuesday around 5:30 PM, I walked into Johnnyâs Pizza in Covington, GA with the simple intention of enjoying a meal and doing a little work on my laptop. What I encountered instead was racially charged disrespect that no paying customer should ever have to endure.
From the moment I entered, staff and servers paused and stared in a way that made it painfully clear I was not welcome. Thankfully, the hostâa kind young Black man named Jadenâpolitely seated me at a table near the front door where I could plug in my laptop. But just minutes later, a white server named Maddie came over and told me that I had to move because the table was âreserved.â
When I asked what time the reservation was for, she admitted it was for 7:00 PMâyet it was only 5:30 PM. I explained that I was already seated, had simply come to eat, and that my presence in no way interfered with a reservation more than 90 minutes away. Still, she insisted I could not stay.
I then movedâagain with Jadenâs helpâto another table near an outlet. But within minutes, Maddie returned and told me that table was also âreserved for trivia at 7:00.â When I asked where, then, I was allowed to sit, she directed me back across the roomâbut made it clear that I could only sit in a booth, not a table.
It was then I noticed something troubling: the few Black customers in the restaurant were all seated in booths, while the tables were occupied only by white patrons. After being told the second time to move and realizing this disturbing pattern, I chose to leave.
The message was loud and clear: I was not wanted at Johnnyâs Pizza.
This kind of segregated treatment in 2025 is disgusting, disgraceful, and unacceptable. No person of color should ever be told they cannot sit and dine simply because of who they are.
We are calling on our community to stand together and say enough is enough. ⢠Do not support establishments that humiliate and discriminate against Black and brown patrons. ⢠Share this story so others are warned. ⢠Hold Johnnyâs Pizza accountableâdemand that they apologize and correct this behavior immediately.
Until then, we declare loud and clear: đđ˝ Black and brown people deserve better. đđž We will not spend our dollars where we are disrespected.
âđž Together, letâs protect one another and push back against places that still think racism has a seat...

Update:since new ownership, we've had 3 great DINNERS at this location. Today, I went in for lunch, why did I do that?! The worst puniest "calzone ever! Small, mostly bread and hardly any feeling. Please go get trained at Amici's on how to make a proper calzone! No worries, I'll just go to the square next time! đđź
I am updating my review for this location from five Star to One Star.
My spouse and I went and to grab dinner for our family tonight in a to-go order after both working 12-hour shifts for the week. We ordered our usual which is garlic knots, wings and a calzone; The calzone was extremely poor and the lemon pepper wings didn't have any seasoning on them. I said something nicely about the calzone being poor and the owner, who apparently made the calzone, seemingly was offended. I was nice about the whole situation I told him that I would take it out of discount but it was small compared to what I normally receive, he laughed and said he wasn't going to give it to me at a discount and then proceeded to attempt to argue with me after I told him I wasn't going to argue. My spouse told him that he needed to be quiet and just to take it off of our order. The owner held the calzone up in the box and was making a comment of the length of the calzone, the issue was the width. The owner came up to the cash register to remove the calzone from our order, and then offered to take 50% off. I said that I wasn't even requesting 50% off I would have taken less but because he had put his hands all over it that I wasn't going to take it now and then he said well I have a glove on and continue to smirk again. He took the calzone off and when I viewed my receipt only to find that they charged us extra for lemon pepper seasoning, in which we would not have needed to ask for if they would actually put seasoning on the lemon pepper wings that literally come naked. Anytime the owner is there and he is making food he absolutely cuts corners and the food is never any good, our garlic knots were literally tasteless, but yet he charges full price for his items plus any little extra that you ask for.
This really sucks because we love Johnny's, we were there about a week ago and dined in, we had April I believe was her name and she was amazing and the food was great, however, the owner was not there, therefore he was not the one to fix our food. Even another worker agreed that the calzone was small compared to what is...
Read morePlease be careful when using this restaurantâs website vs. Doordash, Ubereats, etc. I placed my order 13 days ago on their website and at checkout I did not realize there was a glitch until after processing my payment. Three pizzas were ordered instead of 1 and there was also a duplicate order for one of the subs ordered. Once the mistake was realized, I immediately contacted the Covington location and called Doordash, as they were to handle delivery. I was pleased that the store cancelled the order as requested and agreed to proceed with the corrected order. Unfortunately, I was told that they would not be able to process the refund; it would have to come from Doordash. No worries, or so I thought. I cancelled the order with Doordash, who promptly told me they would not be processing the refund and that it would have to come from the merchant. Again, I thought no worries, must be a miscommunication. I simply placed the corrected order and then called Johnnyâ back. After a lengthy conversation, I was told I would need to speak with a manager. I called back after a couple days and began speaking with the manager, who assured me she would resolve the issue. After Christmas I contacted the store again since I had yet to receive my refund of $178.98. This time I was told they were waiting for a response from Slice. (??? No clue why). Called back again on Monday the 30th as no one had reached out to me, despite having my information. Again, lengthy conversation and explanations but assured the situation would be resolved. This time I received a call back from Johnnyâs stating they had been told by Doordash that a refund had been processed on Dec 22nd, the day of the original cancellation. Not sure which entity was lying but I decided all 3 parties needed to be on the call. Once we were all on the line, the Doordash rep reiterated that they are not responsible for the refund. And when I looked up the phone number associated with the charge to my account, it came up as Johnnyâs Pizza Buford, GA. The manager then said she would contact me once she looked into this and give me a call back. Almost 24 hours later, no call back. I reached out again on Jan 2nd and spoke with a gentleman who told me this was an issue for the owner to handle. Soooo again I must wait. I am so not the wait and see type. As of this evening, a refund has still not been issued. This was my first time dealing with this restaurant and I can guarantee it will be my last. The pizza was decent, not true NY style but still...
