Long-standing record holder of THE best Mexican food I've ever had, and I've been to over 50 different restaurants stretching between Southern Maine all the way to Central Colorado!
My only problem I've had there has been though no real fault of the restaurant itself, per say. The ladies who work the front of house don't speak English as their first language, and I barely speak Spanish. Add on the fact that I have an auditory processing disorder and am partially deaf, and I have struggled at times communicating to them what I wanted. However, they are both very patient and understanding, and we always laugh about it once it's resolved.
They are still awaiting their liquor license, but honestly everything there is so good, it's hardly a problem.
As a former waitress there myself, I see the owner and employees at Casa Vieja as very good friends of mine, and I think this little hidden Cozad gem deserves more attention than it has. I recommend Casa Vieja to everybody I meet who's looking for a family-friendly sit-down restaurant...

This was the best $11 burrito in town. My only criticism is that the queso seemed a little watery but the burrito was amazing bathed in it. I will return. 2ND VISIT...The food was still good but this time the service, from a different server, was not good. The food arrived before my iced tea. No one ever checked on how things were and we never saw our server again until she brought the check. I hope that service does not become their Achilles heal. On a different note, there are only two small tortillas included with the fajitas and that's not enough, however, two additional tortillas are an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI cannot express how happy I was to find this āhidden gemā (to us). We make the drive through Nebraska fairly frequently and, as vegans who try to eat relatively healthily, we donāt usually have a very easy time finding food along the highway. This was some of the best Mexican food Iāve had in my life; their salsa is incredible and we really enjoyed our veggie fajitas (sorry I didnāt get a photo!). I was even able to get some agua de jamaica, which I drank all day every day when I lived in Mexico, but donāt frequently get to treat myself with here in the states. I cannot express how grateful I am that we found...
