Dairy Queen is something that should be run as a smooth operation. They have been and will most likely always be part of the fabric of Americana, at least for the foreseeable future.
However, this place seems to break the mold of how it should be handled. As others have stated, the drive thru times can be truly horrific. I’m not sure if it’s because DQ is still fairly new to the area, and people are not accustomed to the menu, or if it’s the staff. There have been instances when it appears that the line is moving somewhat fast, so I take a chance, and get in line, and then suddenly, when you’re past the point of no return, it slows to a snails crawl. If you’ve been in the drive thru here, you probably know what I’m referring to.
I’ve been stuck in line for over an hour, waiting to get a blizzard. To top it off, it wasn’t even that cold.
They do the upside down thing, for about half a second. I’ve been to DQ out in the mid west, where they will hold it upside down for a count of 10, sometimes even longer. It’s to show how thick it is. Even runny half melted ice cream will stick for 1/2 a second.
I had the food here once. It’s ok, I guess, but not really worth what it costs. I didn’t get one of the lunch combos, I tried some of their a la carte stuff, if that’s what you want to call it. Definitely going to leave it at that one time. Food wasn’t that hot, Luke warm is being polite.
The only reason I keep going back is for the Orange Julius, which, most of the time, I have to get fixed when I get up to the window, because they made the wrong thing. Maybe I can’t fault the employees, too much, because it seems that the intercom doesn’t sound that good.
Plus, the menu for drive thru is horribly positioned, and hard to read unless you have absolutely...
Read moreOk, I'm willing to make some concessions, it's July 4th and fireworks are going off nearby so it's really really busy... We waited in the drive thru line for 27 minutes total. By the time we got to the box to order "welcome to dairy queen, I'll take your order whenever you are ready".. Not in a friendly manner btw. We place our order for 2 blizzards and... Silence... Assumed she was just busy and thus not chit chatty because of the curt, straight to the point greeting. We get to the window. The windows are plastered with some kind of paper, possibly donations, but you cannot see through the window, and they can't see us. Then they slide open to reveal our cashier, no apology for the long wait, no smiles or friendly demeanor.. I get it, you are stressed out. She tries to ring us up for $37... For 2 blizzards? nope they did not actually take our order... We tell them what we ordered, no apology, just plugged it in and charged us $10 and change... I realize corporate chains run businesses differently, but I worked for Starbucks, and when you F'd up that bad, on top of a ridiculous wait, you don't charge your customer! The blizzards come out... Still no apology, maybe there was a"have a good night" but I was already opening up yelp to write this review, so I didn't quite catch what she says exactly. SORRY, NOT SORRY! But DQ should have been properly staffed for the busy night... Or at least attempted to pacify their customers with an explanation and apology for the poor service!
This was my first time at this DQ, and I was excited because it's been years since I had a blizzard. I was made to feel slighted, unappreciated and unwelcome. If that wasn't enough, I'd blizzards were...
Read moreI ordered 2 combo meals one with a large onion ring and one with large fry and 2 blizzards plus a side of pretzel sticks from there tonight after being in line for 30-35 minutes. When I got home and opened the bag I noticed I didn’t have my onion rings and the pretzel sticks were missing the queso sauce that is supposed to come with it. I drove back to DQ and called them up and told them what happened, the employee then put the “manager” on the phone and after explaining to him what happened he told me that the employee put onion rings in the bag and that I was told at the window they were out of queso sauce and I was ok with that then told me to have a good night and hung up. After calling back a second time and asked to speak to the manager I was questioned on why I was just calling about it now when I was there at 10:00. I didn’t actually place my order until around 10:30 and then waiting another 5 minutes for them to bring the food out to me. He then told me again that I was told by the employee at the window that they were out of queso sauce and I had told them ok… not true. I was also told that they did put onion rings in the bag and I probably just missed them. After talking to the manager I was offered a free combo meal with onion rings but that offer is only good for a week. This is not the first time I have had a problem there, from getting food that’s cold to blizzards that are almost melted and missing items from the order I am pretty sure this will be my last time getting something from DQ and I will be deleting the APP...
