Food was fine, but easily one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I accidentally ordered coconut shrimp instead of coconut chicken. When the food came out I took the shrimp up to the counter and said, "I'm so sorry, I wanted the coconut chicken not the shrimp." The woman told me I said shrimp. I told her I didn't think I did, but regardless I did not want the shrimp. She went back and forth with me for a while before she said, "it's on camera." I told her again that I didn't think I said shrimp but even still I didn't want it. She rang up the chicken and asked me to pay. I told her if she was going to make me pay I would just keep the shrimp. I then left to go sit with my family to finish our meal. I was done with the situation. The lady came to the table a few minutes later and put her phone near my face and told me to watch the recording of me ordering food. I told her I did not care to see it and was busy feeding my 18 month old daughter. She stayed and played the entire 30 second conversation just to prove she was right about me saying shrimp before leaving and reminding me again that I said shrimp. At that point, my family and I decided to leave. We packed up the kids and got ready to leave. As we were leaving the lady came out and said the coconut chicken was almost done. We took the chicken and said our goodbyes. I have been in customer service for almost a decade and have dealt with similar situations where I knew the customer misspoke. The average transaction was about $400. Instead of arguing with the customer and shoving video recordings in their faces I just made the customer happy to ensure their continued patronage knowing the company would be out maybe $200 or so. To be so petty and insistent over $13 of chicken was astounding to me. Because of this interaction we will never be going back to this establishment and will strongly encourage friends and family to not spend...
Read moreI was visiting Crawfordsville with my family and we decided to try this restaurant based on the good reviews... We ordered 4 entrées along with egg rolls, special fried rice and crab rangoons... 62.00 dollars of food along with a tip!!! Now, before I get to the food, I would like to say the cashier was a really helpful and hard working woman!!! I ordered at the restaurant for the take out and it took like 40 minutes to prepare my order... I tipped the cashier because she was extremely nice and reminded the people in the kitchen that we were in the restaurant waiting for our food and not picking it up... I really appreciated that as smart hardworking help is hard to find these days!!! Now, back to the food.... I would never ever eat here again!!! This was hands down the worst chinese food I have ever tried in my life and I have had chinese food from many places across America and in foreign countries!!! The orange chicken was red? Who puts shredded carrots in Mongolian Beef and the sauce is yellow??? Every entrée was not edible as nobody took more than 2 bites!!! Even the rice was soggy and stuck together in chunks... ewww... The only thing that was edible was the crab rangoon!!! I actually thought about leaving the food in front of the restaurant door with a note telling them to eat this slop!!! I don't know about these other reviews saying the food is good as obviously most of these people have never had good chinese... I am mostly pissed off at these reviews saying the food was good because it cost me 67.00 dollars total and my wife needling me the rest of the trip and beyond. I ended up taking us to trusty McDonalds in the end. If you ever in the Grand Rapids, MI area which has excellent chinese food in most places then try Great Lakes chinese restaurant and taste great...
Read moreThis place is excellent, by far the best take out in town, not just chinese takeout, and fairly consistent unless they are outrageously busy for some reason. Their soups are flavorful and well made. The Orange Chicken and General Tso's and Sesame chicken has been properly fried twice so it's extra cripsy but not dried out. They clearly make some sauces from scratch and use the proper velveting technique on their meats before they stir fry them (something a lot of chinese restaurants skip) so that they are melt in your mouth tender. The rice is a perfect texture every time I have had it and the service is good.
One Tip for the Owner: Set yourself up with DoorDash so we can get delivery!!! We are already used to paying a premium on DoorDash pricing for convenience, and there are a lot of lazy younger folks who won't drive out to the store and interact with a person who would be...
