Went with my husband to eat on a recent Friday night. Expected it to be busy considering the time we arrived but no...it was almost empty. There was no air conditioning and the ceiling fans were concentrated in one area of the restaurant. Two fans on the counter were for the staff, so pretty much no air circulation. It smelled overwhelmingly of cigarettes and the table we sat at seemed to have a film of some sort on it. My husband ordered the All You Can Eat Walleye & Shrimp while I ordered the Steak & Egg Breakfast. The first round of Walleye & Shrimp brought to the table was WAAAAAY overcooked. So much so that he couldn't even cut through it with his knife, which to be fair was a butter knife, but not the point. He asked for some not cooked so long and the server brought him another round which was much better. His coleslaw though was not made in house and it was warm, not cold so there was no telling how long it was not in the fridge before he got it? My breakfast was meh...steak was tender enough but had absolutely no flavor. Eggs were made the way I asked...I think. Close enough for me to say yes. Hashbrowns were dry...SUPER DRY and flavorless as well. Toast was the best thing I ordered, which had plenty of butter and jelly. Fountain drinks were not tasty either. It was HOT in there so the ice melted faster than usual, watering the drinks down even more than one might expect on a regular visit where the temperature and conditions were more favorable. Owners showed up while we were there and didn't bother to acknowledge any customers whether they were regulars or ones who'd just happened in like us. No one asked about our food or anything else for that matter while we were there, which was about an hour overall. The server did get us fresh drinks at one point without us asking but I think it was because she saw how badly they were sweating on the table from the heat. Other staff were talking about going out to smoke and smokers in the front of the building did not adhere to the 8ft distance from the doorways. I used the ladies room and there was a giant sized roll of toilet paper on the back of the toilet, not in the dispenser, the floor was slippery and sticky and it smelled like raw sewage with a mask of something I couldn't quite figure out...Gross! We had been here a couple times in the past and we decided to give it a try since it had been a while....totally bad call on our part. My husband said "Now I remember why we didn't come back." It's really sad when you try to patronize and support the local business owners and they don't seem to care at all about what their image or customer needs are. These owners really need to take a hard look at what's going on in this restaurant and do something about it. If their hearts aren't in it they should sell it to someone who would care. Unless there is a change of ownership or the current owners makes some changes we will not be visiting again and will definitely not be telling anyone we know to go there. I know just us is a small drop in the bucket, but word of mouth gets around and eventually if things don't change the business suffers. The customers are already suffering. It speaks volumes that we were there on a Friday night between 4:30 and 5pm and that it was almost like a ghost town. Those who've had a great experience are either blessed or people who are friends or work there giving the awesome reviews because average people like us who work hard for their money and are spending it in confidence in exchange for getting a good tasting, appealing, price friendly meal will never offer a good review here as long as it...
Read moreBefore Bill Veselji who went MIA because he apparently don’t want to hear complaints about his 2 restaurants. The Family Forum had something going for it where the servers were dressed in nice shirts and ties with nice slacks and it was a nice place to go and get good food. These waitresses were very professional and never called the customers cringe worthy names such Baby, Darling, Dear, Hon, Honey, Sweetheart and a few other names of endearment. After Bill Veselji the manager of the Forum hired sloppy waitresses with their stomachs hanging over their aprons wearing torn jeans and exposing their cleavages until at least I notice they are now wearing black Forum T shirts. They are covered with tattoos and address their customers with cringe worthy names like Baby, Darling, Dear, Hon, Honey, Sweetheart and a few other names. I for one hate this cringe worthiness. It is so serious in some businesses that there are counselors to stop it and teach people respect in a business type environment.
These naïve waitresses that address their customers this way is condescending and demeaning, especially when it comes to senior citizens. With younger people I can see were this behavior would be sexist as well. So anyone with a brain would be offended by this behavior. But I just want to point out there are a couple of really great waitresses there that act very professional and it is always a pleasure to have them to wait on me. Don’t believe me than go on line and Google it. There are videos about it on You Tube and while you are at it check about this cringe worthy behavior on Quora and Reddit. Let’s support each other instead of allowing this behavior from these waitresses to continue.
I almost forgot: Along with the cringe worthy words that come out of some of those waitresses mouths in the workplace and to strangers, I saw a waitress holding a baby while waiting on tables one day just not too long ago. There always seems to be a fly population in the place with dead flies under the blinds on the...
Read moreI’m leaving a bit of an unorthodox review for this place based off of 3 different experiences here. I haven’t eaten here as a customer (and I won’t be), but i’ve provided services to this restaurant as a Door Dash driver. To be blunt, i’m not quite sure i’d eat here based off of these experiences alone.
The first time I ever came in to pick up an order the two girls working acknowledged me immediately, and were extremely helpful and kind. The second time I came in (same day) they even told me I was pretty, which made my day! That experience had me wanting to come eat here sooo bad. I even told my boyfriend about it.
Today, the third experience, well— sucked. Not sure how else to say it, and i’m not trying to be rude. I walked in the door, and walked to where the first girls I interacted with here during the first/second experience told me I should wait to grab orders. I was blatantly ignored. Not only that, the girls would avoid eye contact with me. They were purposefully trying to make me uncomfortable in a way that i’ve never experienced by service staff at a restaurant before. That’s saying a lot because I used to be a server! Specifically, the girl with the septum piercing and purple/blue hair went out of her way to make it as awkward as she could. Stood right next to me and refused to acknowledge me at ALL. It was so weird and hurtful. I mean, girl, i’m just trying to do my job too? Overall, after today, I won’t be bringing business here. I won’t be telling anyone to come here either. On the plus side, the food smells good and there’s tons of...
