My third time visiting Eggs-Up during my extended visit to Cumberland, RI. I thought my first experience (Extremely good!) could not be matched ... I was wrong!
Like all my experiences with bars, restaurant's, coffee shops etc. I always put two things above all else:
1 SERVICE
2 ATMOSPHERE/Personality of the Bartenders, Server etc.
When we sat down the server who came over to us was the same as the first time I had visited (I was with the same person today as I was then) her name is Ally (I'm probably butchering the spelling.)
Given the fact it had been a few weeks I did not expect Ally to recognize us, however, she gave us a huge smile (Like she gives EVERYONE) came over and said 'Great to see you guys again!'
During our banter back and forth (again, incredible give and take which I noticed she provides EVERY customer while ALWAYS making them feel special and leaving them the feeling of wanting to come back)
I don't know what the lifetime value of a customer is at Eggs-Up but I noticed almost every table she spoke to (That was close to me) she either knew the names or made a reference to a past visit of what they ordered before. As a business owner myself nothing is more important that recurring/residual revenue ... it is obvious many customers choose Eggs-Up for the Ally experience (ALL the people that work their are not only friendly but quick with a refill, clearing tables and smiling).
It is easy to spot when a server is just doing this for the job, they will usually drop the smile the second they start to turn and walk away ... Ally glows!
We chatted a bit about the customer experience and it is obvious that she TRULY loves what she does, where she works and her customers.
Now for the food, both times I have eaten here (just coffee the other time) I ordered the same thing 2 eggs over easy. home fries, bacon and toast.
Eggs were PERFECT. The bacon was HUGE with multiple pieces easily twice the size of almost every breakfast place I have visited. My friend was also EXTREMELY pleased with his hamburger omelette, which was an enormous portion ...
The most amazing part was that it was so busy and EVERYONE handled it impeccably.
Congratulations to Ally, the rest of the staff, the cooks and to The Eggs-Up owner(s).

Read moreGreat food, including Gluten-"friendly" fare. Specials, some of which can even be done gluten-free. Fast, friendly service. Counter for singles or small groups. Very busy on weekends. Sodas are Pepsi brand. All the GF members of our party are very happy with the gluten-friendly food choices. No bike rack. No bus service. Big parking lot. Often a wait on weekends, especially in bunches after local Masses and Services end. They have expanded the restaurant so the lines are shorter than they used to be!
9/16/2017 - Oh goodness YUMM! Strawberry & banana stuffed french toast done Gluten Free!! See photo. Scrumptious.
8/28/2022 - This place is just as delightful in the COVID world as before COVID. They added plexiglass mini-walls to each booth. The air flow seems good; it's never stuffy or hot. They added a UV-based air purifier that is always on. They now have online menus as well as paper-based menus. They seem just as busy in the COVID days as pre-COVID, which makes me happy. Seeing a local small business be so successful makes me happy. I am thrilled to be a frequent customer.
If you're still leery of eating close to strangers, or if you just like al fresco, there are two outdoor tables that can hold up to 8 people each...
Read moreI had been curious about Eggs-Up for a wee bit, so I decided to stop in when my friend suggested that we go to breakfast together with the caveat that it would be a place near 295.
Inside, it is nothing special - a diner place that doesn't feel much like anything. No real vibe, but sometimes generic breakfast place is a vibe all of its own.
It took a while for the waitress to take our order. It was a good thing I had my cellphone, because the menu is online only. And has no prices.
I ordered my usual 'test this place out' breakfast - 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 pancakes. This default did not come with toast or homefries, though such things could be ordered separately. Didn't want to because there were no prices on the menu, so...
Eggs were good. A little more loose than most places do over easy, but still well prepared. The sausages were pinky thick. They were okay. The pancakes were not really fluffy, and they defaulted to arriving with powdered sugar. They were sweeter than I like, but still good.
The coffee was passable. Not as good as most places I've been, but it's still servicable.
In the end, I'd go back if I were in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way. I give it a light...
