Just ordered after waaay too long. I tried it when they first opened and it was great then but I lived in Lakewood and way out of range so it’s been years. I was pleasantly surprised to learn I was now in delivery range at my new house and had to give it a try after all these years.
Al lot of people will say “man I hope it’s as good as it used to be,” when getting food from an old favorite, but I have to be completely honest, IT’S EVEN BETTER!
The pizza itself was exceptional. Perfect distribution of toppings so that it both has plenty of flavor and toppings but not so much that it’s soggy in the middle (big chain pizza places: I’m looking at you!) The tops were the exact right amount of browning on the cheese and the crust was perfectly baked with a nice crunch on the outer edge.
I ordered the Greek pizza and the Bona Karma.
The Greek is rich yet light with fresh flavors that make you crave the next bite.
The Bona Karma, however is just in another league. First off, where can you find a place crazy enough to use curry as a pizza base?!? (Okay, I know one other place and they don’t even do it anymore.) But thank god Bona Pizza does because this pizza is absolutely amazing. The aromatics of the curry and the balance of spiciness from the curry, (light) cayenne, and jalapeños, cut with the richness of the cheese is the perfect balance. If you’re a curry lover, or if you’re not even really a fan of curry, this pizza will rouse you with a delicious f*cking apotheosis of god-flavor that will have you question how this seemingly modest pizzeria isn’t the most talked about stop in DFW.
I’m seriously considering begging the owner to partner up and open more Bona Pizza’s across the country and just letting my other business take care of themselves or selling them, because this place is stellar.
I know what you’re thinking: “This weirdo must have been paid to review ‘cause pizza can’t make you just wanna rethink your life choices.” You’d be absolutely wrong though. Sorta. ‘Cause I’m definitely not selling my other businesses, they’re amazing, but I’d be crazier than a declawed cat trying to climb a redwood tree for the gram if I didn’t try to invest in this deliciousness.
TL:DR- Bona...
Read moreJust placed an order on the app. We had all the toppings except pepperoni. We did the thing where we called. Didn’t have an attitude wasn’t even mad. Just wanted to have it corrected. Seemed simple, mistakes happen. The guy gets mad and has an attitude assuming we were going to call and give him a hard time when really I just wanted to ask for the red pepper flakes and ranch. It’s funny really because he starts yelling “I already told you I was making you another pizza!” I’m shocked looking at my gf like what did I even say? And proceeded to ask why are you yelling sir? I’m being calm and patient. And proceeds to shout over me not even realizing that I wasn’t even mad and proceeds screaming like a mad man about how he’s by himself and that the driver has to come back to deliver the fixed pizza as if it was my fault. YOURE THE ONE THAT MESSED THE PIZZA UP THAT I PAID FOR. SO ITS YOUR FAULT THE DRIVER WOULD COME BACK. Whoever this man is, don’t leave him by himself again because he’s going to take out his anger on your paying customers.
And actually, how we order a pepperoni pizza with veggies on it, and we don’t get the pepperoni!!!! And you claim the driver forgot the chili flakes , but the cooks put the packets in sometimes when packing the...
Read moreMy office orders from this place here and there. Today was a horrible experience. We usually pass the menu around and write on an envelope what we want and put the money inside. Today when they brought the food they did not get my order correct. no biggie. However, when my manager, the lady that made the order, called to see what they could do, the man on the phone told her she read it off to him and he read it back to her and she consented. Then he hung up on her. That is not how it went down. She read all the orders off the envelope, not the menu. And per her, he never read any of the orders back to her. I'm sure he didn't, as it's a small shop and they were busy. Our office easily racks up $50-$100 dollars every time we order, to get one wrong is not out of the norm. But to rudely just hang up?!? So i called back, admittedly not happy, but could get no where with him, he just constantly blamed my supervisor and when i said "even if she did mess up, that i would like what i ordered, today, some other day? or maybe a refund? He started screaming that he was not a thief and verbalizing what i can only assume was cussing in another language, or at least ranting! Then he hung up on me as well. I cannot understand how he has not cost his...
