Great educational museum that encompasses the gamut of all things aerospace. This musuem has an impressive and expansive floorplan to immerse yourself into the world of space, commercial, military, early flight crafts, Texas aerospace history and the heros and pioneers of those times. The exhibits also cover international aviation contributions. Special thank you and nod to the Wright Brothers for your pioneering spirits. I appreciate this museum, simply for the admirable contributions so many have made to help grant access to the world. I particularly enjoyed the military area as it reminded me of Air Shows held at Andrew's AFB growing up. I'm really not into military things and avoided Air Force Jr. ROTC in high school lol, but enjoyed those shows, seeing the Blue Angels, stealth aircrafts, helicopters, etc. was something special. This musuem has a great selection of crafts on display. I also was excited to see space exhibits, Apollos, rocket thrusters, a moon rock, etc. The museum also has an ample play area for children. The mini mock airplane (like the Southwest craft on display) and an observation tower-like structure for climbing, were so cute. As a bonus and being an unashamed kid at heart, I personally learned a lot from the Astronaut and Elmo discussion in the video amphitheater area. I was happy to see that the museum is affiliated with the Smithsonian and has great events including summer camps for kids. The upcoming Moon Day on the 20th of July looks awesome! Although my flying days are winding down, so I can be more at home with family, I'm grateful for the all wonderful trips I've experienced. (You can't tell I used to have a fear of flying over water.) Next aerospace stop, the Kennedy...
Read moreMy Fiance and I spent a couple of hours Here this morning walking around and looking at all of the displays. This was my second time to visit here. But it's been a long time in between so it was nice to revisit it. This was her first time. And thankfully she enjoyed it. It's a really nice museum and the only Other one that I've had the pleasure to visit. The other one has sadly closed. The people who greet you are very nice and give you an excellent pre- visit briefing and tell you a little about what you will be seeing. The gift shop was nice as well. Though I wished they sold more pictures. / Art more variety. Otherwise they have a decent inventory of things to buy. I bought one of their T-Shirts. It's definitely a great place to spend a few hours looking and learning more about Americas Aviation and Space history. While I'm at it. I want to highlight a couple of their attractions, 1. Apollo 5 Capsule, 2. An actual Blue Angels FA-18, 3. The Flying Pancake, 4. The Southwest Airlines History svs Displays. 5 they have a place for children to visit and play around in. So that's just a few of the many fun and interesting things you will see and experience. The cost per person is a reasonable 13.00s it was raining this morning when we visited so that was pretty Cool too. I Highly recommend going and seeing this place it's worth the...
Read moreWonderful display of military planes and memorabilia throughout history. Loved the time I spent there. If you’re a military history fan, I highly recommend visiting the museum.
You will need at least 2 hours to walk through and view the exhibits and all there is to see.
You will discover to be history of Southwest Airlines since the museum is next to Dallas Love Field Airport. Have fun sitting on 2 Southwest Aircraft. The Spirit of Kitty Hawk ( which was taken out of the fleet in 2011) and a nose model of another southwest jet aircraft. You will read and witness replicas of the company uniforms and how they evolved since the 1960s and a simulated desk agent gate likened to most major airport terminals.
On the other side of the first floor you will see replicas of the Apollo 11, fighter jets from the US Air Force and Navy, history of the Wright Brothers, The Hindenburg, and so much more. Upstairs on the 2nd floor is the history of The International Braniff Airlines which according to all I saw had large expansion ambitions, but grew too fast and fiseled out too early.
Make sure you stop by the gift shop before you leave where they have a plethora of toys of aircraft, airlines toys and space toys and much more. The play area is also fun for...
