On January 12, 2025, I had a terrible experience at the Flying J truck stop in Dallas, TX, which is connected to a Denny’s restaurant. I was sitting in my box truck, calculating GPS directions and preparing to eat at Denny’s, when I was approached by a security guard who rudely told me I couldn’t park there. Instead of asking if I was a customer, he escalated the situation unnecessarily. Shortly after, a second security guard, wearing a vest with the logo of 3JS Security LLC, approached and behaved in an even more hostile and threatening manner. He made inappropriate comments, threatened to pepper spray me, and even tried to block me from exiting my truck to speak with a witness. At one point, he made an obscene gesture (photo attached), which is completely unacceptable. When I asked for his name, he refused to provide it clearly, raising questions about whether he was properly trained or authorized to act in this capacity. Upon returning later in my personal vehicle, I reviewed the signage and found no indication that box trucks are prohibited from parking in the area (except for 18-wheelers). Other trucks were parked there without issue, which suggests I was unfairly singled out. This behavior is unacceptable, and I will be filing formal complaints with Denny’s corporate, the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and the Texas Attorney General’s office. I hope Denny’s takes this matter seriously and ensures their contracted security staff are properly trained to handle situations with professionalism and respect.

"The new normal." So had a layover in Dallas so the wife and I decided to get a quick New Years bite while waiting for the next trip out. After waiting about 20min to get seated, we noticed a hurried staff. Once seated we got our menus and drink orders. There was a sign at the entrance to be kind as they were short staffed. Clearly they were. We ordered our meal, sipping coffee and watching 5 people working feverishly to serve customers quickly as possible. 2 young men in the kitchen cooking, 1 of which looked brand new. 3 ladies completely hustling and singing along to the music and a young man who appeared to be a converted busser who was taking orders and running food. They were all working hard and together. They were smiling and they were trying to have the best attitude possible! Oh and no one had time to mess with their phone (or even tried to make time) Our food came out, and while the order wasn't exactly correct the food was good for Denny's so I really can't complain. 5 stars and incorrect order? Sure. It was New Years, they were short staffed but they all worked their tails off with a smile. IMO, they had more reasons to give shoddy service and bad attitude. ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING! (Post note) Immediately purchased something in the travel store and while the cashier was ringing me out, puts her cell phone In selfie mode and starts fixing her eyelash! RIGHT. IN. FRONT. OF. ME! Denny's did the most - Flying J doing the least.

Not a good experience. Order took an hour (not exaggerating). It literally took an hour to get to my table. Waitress never came to let me know what was going on. A young man believe to be the hostess was the one who came around 45 mins. after I ordered and told me food was coming. 5 mins later the hostess, not the waitress, brought the food and it was the wrong dish. I talked to him and after he brought the menu again, and showed him my dish, he apologized and told me he would bring my dish as soon as possible. About 7 minutes later my dish was at the table. Food was not good. It was dried. Chorizo was overcooked almost burned. I cannot complaint about the cook since he or she had to do it in a rush. About 5 minutes into my dinner the waitress showed up and told me I had to stop eating and go pay because she was leaving for the day. I said, but I am eating and she said "sorry honey but I need to go and you need to go pay and then you can continue eating". End quote. So I did. I went pay and came back to my table. I honestly don't like to give bad reviews. I always try to find the positive side of the service. No business is perfect and that is why we should always have an open mind, but sometimes it is just impossible. This is one of those times. Not a good experience.

Unbelievable RUDE! We came in to be seated, the lady looked my way and said nothing, after about 5 minutes, we came to the counter to seat ourselves. Both the manager and the same lady who ignored me was working behind the counter and said NOTHING! Finally I asked, can we be acknowledged please. They look at one another and said NOTHING, the waiter walked over and said you guys want something to drink? I asked for water and my husband asked for a coke, the guy came back and said they didn’t have coke. We both got water. He took our order, biscuits and gravy for my husband and eggs with cheese and side of toast for me. We waited… never once did the manager (black lady with a grill) or the other woman acknowledge us. No I’m sorry, did we need anything etc. finally after 20 minutes or so, The cook placed the order under the lights and unfortunately nobody was there to hand it to us. My husband looked around to see if one of the 3 workers noticed food plates were ready. The waiter put two small plates of biscuits and gravy down in front of us. I slid the plate to my husband as that is what he ordered. He stood there, looking annoyed. I said I ordered 2 eggs with cheese and a side of toast... maybe 2 minutes later, the guy placed a plate with the eggs and walked away. I asked will it be a while before I get my toast, He SNAPPED, just wait!! With all attitude, the. Said give me a minute your not the only person I’m helping. I responded with, I just asked a question, it’s a simple yes or no. His attitude was rude and came from a simple question. The customer sitting on the left of me was like wow he’s definitely in the wrong business. The waiter remarks sometimes she the cook for get to put everything on the plate.. SMH I repeated, I simply asked a question. My husband said, yo, she just asked a question.. A question that was clearly warranted based on the experience up to that point. The toast came and he kind of tossed it in the counter.. Before I could say anything else, my husband said, let’s just go before things get escalated. We left. The manager said NOTHING the entire time...

Waited to be seated to at least 15 minutes after seeing there was barely anyone in the restaurant and hearing an announcement that there was no wait time. Watched a waitress/hostess walk past us multiple times with no greeting or even acknowledgement she almost walked over me if I didn't step back. After being sat down it took another 10 minutes to even get the waitress to get drink orders in. Tried multiple times to let the waitress know we were ready to order she finally came. She let me know the item I was ordering might take a while because the cook was new which I was ok with. The same waitress that damn near walked all over me came and sat down another party then is wen she acknowledged us and asked if someone waited on us. We overheard her telling the other party that the manager was right over there on the phone and walking around knowing they were busy. Must was busy from to go orders because there was no one else in the restaurant besides us and that one other party. It took so long for the food to come we jus wanted it to go at this point. They also got both orders wrong. My husband ordered a double cheese burger and she brought out a single cheeseburger that looked thrown together. Lettus looked old and black tomatoes thrown on the burger Knowing it would take another 30 minutes just to grab a to go plate we still asked for to go trays. It really took her 30 more minutes to bring back the to go trays. While waiting for Togo trays and a new burger we heard the waitress offer the other party complimentary items for the wait she then offered us some complimentary items in which I ordered pancakes. We were still waiting for the Togo trays now it seemed like 40 minutes so we jus decided to leave. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had I see why they didn't have any customers by the end...

Would give this place no stars if I could. Came in around noon yesterday with my co driver to eat. There were several people waiting to be seated and only two tables seated. I saw three or four wait staff standout around, looking bored. After waiting for about 10 minutes, one of the servers came to the front. We were all informed that they only had one cook and that they could not seat anyone due to this fact. At that point, I was done. About two hours later, my codriver was able to eat there, but the experience was hair-raising. When he was seated, the server took his drink order and then disappeared for about 20 minutes. When he came back to take the food order, he again took the drink order. Another length of time passed and he finally got his food. The fries were nearly non-existent and the burger was soggy, to the point of disintegrating when looked at. No one ever checked on him until the bill was to be paid. An hour later, my codriver was pretty sick, as in food poisoning. When corporate was contacted, they referred the case back to the manager of the store, who offered to refund the cost of the food, only if he returned. She was not apologetic in the least and was very terse and hung up on my co driver. I would recommend avoiding this place as if they had the plague, because they just might… They definitely do not want to work….

To make this right, you need to restructure and start over with your staff bc they are terrible. The cook cannot handle more than one table at a time and can’t cook. Your servers have very poor work ethic, not to mention the level of apathy on your manager’s part. I understand that it is difficult to find good help, but I know you can do much better than the...
